I'm putting this one on my calendar and will try my best to make it. We're going to have patches as well as t-shirts, right?

So I checked the calendar, and it happens to be the same weekend as the All-Star Break. I work for the Cardinals on the maintenance staff every year, and the game is in St. Louis this year, so I don't know if I will make it. I guess it depends on how long I'm down at the stadium, and what days the derby and other activities are on. It hasn't been in St. Louis since 1966, so I really want to make it to this one. I'm really going to have to be a last minute decider-er for this rally. Oh, the decisions...

So I made it the same weekend as the nascar race in Chicago and the all-star game in StL. Man, I'm a freaking genius. Isn't the all-star game usually on a tuesday or something?

The game is going to be on Monday the 13th I think, but the home run derby and other stuff is Saturday. I may have to be working overtime to get stuff ready. We'll see, I may not even be employed at that time by the Cards, since it's a seasonal job for me. I've been doing it since the old stadium, I love going down there every year.

Sounds like a cool gig. Well, hope you can make it, but don't wish for you to lose your job, even if it's part time/seasonal.

Cheastnut Mtn was the host site for the annual Triumph RAT Midwest Rally. The last being VII in 2004. It was the largest rally in the nation and for whatever reason Triumph just passed on it, and moved the rally to Ark. I think.
There is a campground about 5 miles further down Black Jack that would meet all your needs.
It is a great area for getting in some twisty time.

Guess I should have kept reading, I didn't see it was haded to Timmermans. Still should be a good gathering.

Last August, a buddy and I loaded up our bikes in the back of his 1974 Ford Econoline E300 Supervan to go to the races in Cordova, Il. I was working on the race car during the day and unloaded our bikes at the hotel at night. We road through Davenport until about 1am! I think that was the most fun I've ever had on my bike! My buddy had his ol' '74 KZ900 Z1 and I had my Speedy. He's qute the bad influence on me! I learned how to do burnouts pretty quick!

I will be at the rally, and hopefully my buddy too. So, anyone that would like to do some night ridin' come find us!

Yeah, decided to go to timmermans because it's about 1/2 the price. I figure cheaper is better in this current economy. There are some cool ride maps from those old RAT rallys at www.windycityrats.com on the maps page.

If you can't commit, maybe you could ask your girlfriend, or, one of your family. I'm sure there is SOMEONE who knows you that would be glad to commit you! Having said that, I'm thinking of commiting one day this week. No..., I mean to the ralley.

There is a thread started for hotel reservations and for tshirts/patches so that Scott has an idea of who whats shirts and/or patches and if he booked to many or not enough rooms.

Is the ride Saturday to the National Motorcycle Museum and to the Iron Horse Social Club all that's planned so far? I'm only a couple of hours away, so I'll have some time to kill Friday night and Sunday.

For those who have wondered or would like to know, neither Iowa nor Illinois have helmet laws.

Actually, Ill. does have a riding glasses restriction. You have to have a pair on, I believe. And correct me if I'm wrong, the passenger has to have a helmet "available", but not necessarily "on". I've never heard of anybody getting stopped for this, just the local word from my Ill. friends. (and one more, the headlight has to be on, not that that's much of an issue with all the newer bikes.)

Why would you ride without eye protection anyway? And what good is "availability" when you fly off the bike? No time to grab it and put it on in a crash.

Yeah, I didn't want to plan too much, i know people will spend a lot of time riding to and from the rally, so I didn't want to wear everyone out. I figure most people will want to kick back, enjoy a few beverages and bullsh!t. Plus I didn't want anyone to feel tied down to an agenda or anything. If you want to do another ride sunday morning, I'm down.

Yeah, I know, neither one makes a lot of sense. Just quoting the law the way I heard it. I see any number of young guys around here who ride without. And my brother refused to wear any glasses. He also rode like an idiot. I'm sure glad he quit riding years ago.
