No offense Dwight, but I'll definitely be avoiding your Socal freeways on my trip as much as possible. My usual route to get to hwy 99 has me going through Highland up Cajon Pass, then 395 to 58 and into Bakersfield. I might be travelling with a friend of mine who rides a trike. Maybe we could meet up in Bakersfield for the ride up to Hanford?
I might just be shopping for a vintage bike at Hanford. I've been looking locally, but everything is overpriced. Not looking for a show queen, just a 90% bike that's a good runner.
I've ridden the GTS1000 once since I had my knee replaced in August. I still can't bend my knee far enough to ride the bike easily, and shifting is a bit of a pain. So the bike is just sitting in the garage on it's centerstand with a battery tender hooked up to it.

Bakersfield! "Sun, Fun, Stay, Play", HUH?! (you remember that big ol' road sign along 99, right?!) SURE! Maybe we could hook up there! (...and I don't blame ya one bit for bypassing the traffic here, BTW) So, I guess you're ridin' the Speedy there, right?!

Well Dwight, in a bit of "bet you didn't know that", I was born in Bakersfield. Only lived there 6 months or so though, then we moved to the beautiful desert oasis of Avenal. And people say Bakersfield is a dump! Bakersfield is big city high livin' compared to Avenal. But when you're 12 months old, does it really matter? Now you know why I like the desert heat, I was born into it. My Mom told me it was over 110 the day I came into this world.
I haven't done the logistics yet for the trip. I would like to make it to the early bird entry for Hanford so I can get first dibs on a bike if I find one I want to buy, and that's gates open at 6:30 am! But if you see a bike in your area at a good price, let me know. I think you know what I'm looking for...68-70 TR6 or BSA Thunderbolt in the same years preferred. I'm open to other ideas though if you come across something interesting.
Looks like I'll be riding the Speedmaster, but I'm still working on bending that knee so you never know. I ordered a big bore kit for the Triumph from D&D Cycles last week, but I have to wait till they get the cylinders so I can do a straight swap instead of mailing them mine.
I'll give you a shout about the trip when it gets closer to go time.

Bakersfield...., or OILDALE - there is a difference, not that there's anything wrong w/ that.
Doggone - looks like I'll be two weeks early for the Hanford show... Kein scheise... Will be going with the Mrs. to Hanford/Lemoore to drop off some things for our daughter and my favorite son-in-law, both stationed at NAS. Would be a great bonding experience for me and the lad, since the last time we got together, we stanked up my home office w/ some fine robustos and most of a bottle of Ridgemont Reserve 1792 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 93.7 proof. Both Mrs. Wall and Mrs. Moran smelt us 'afore they saw us.
Looking forward to the SWTF. Montrose Mikey, we need to get our "highway legs" in shape.

I'm trying to Bob, but it seems like everytime I get a ride in, it snows the next day.

There's an MSF Experienced Rider Course scheduled this Saturday. Some folks from the hospital here are taking it, forcast calls for a high of 38 and snow. Could be a REAL experience.

********************************************************* I guess it's about time I took a tally of those coming to this year's SWTF, and their T-shirt requests, huh?!
And so, if ya will, please hit the "Quote" button and add yourself and your T-shirt size and the number of 'em you'd like to buy at the bottom of the page. They will all be white long sleeve and $20.00 each.
(BTW, it looks like Judie may not be able to make it this year...since the merger of NWA and Delta, they've really started loadin' the poor girl down with a whole lot o' work...as you can image, she can't wait 'til the end of this year when she'll retire too!)
And so....heeeeere we GO!!!! *********************************************************

Sorry Dwight, we would love to go, but have a standing date in Clovis, NM that weekend. We did get close today. We spent the day in Oatman and Lake Havasu, AZ. Have some pictures posted in the 27th Annual Laughlin River Run post. We will be there next year though.

Dwight - Thought it was going to be iffy due to 1 ea. IBC (Idiot B*****d Client) who had 4 trials scheduled in 5 weeks: (1) Armed robbery of a Blockbuster, (2) Armed robbery of a liquor store, (3) Armed robbery of a bank (4) Attempted theft of a big-a** Hi-def TV from Wally-World. On surveillance for 3/4, prints on counter, DNA on cigarette butts - CSI 101. Not saying he's guilty [that's up to the "trier(s) of fact"], but if anyone's got a defense the attorney could use, we'd like to hear it... Unfortunately, my step-mother, 80 (47 years w/ my dad) died as I was leaving for California. Did get that part of the trip done, and will be the prodigal son at Arlington when she's laid to rest on 5/20 (Ain't that something - even for deceased civilians, the military makes you wait in line). Dad, who is 83, is in the VAMC Nursing Home in D.C., so there are things to work out. Will most likely have to make the same trip in a couple of months, the way things are going. While my body is in MD/DC/VA, my heart is w/ you all. Have a great time, be safe, and raise a glass or two (or three), to the old girl for me (but only after the bikes are put up for the night). She probably wouldn't approve, but I would. Bob

Insanity defense??!! Cause if he didn't take a deal on all those and wants to go to trial, he must be insane (the prosecutor in me coming out, even tho I have been playing at the defnse attorney thing for a month now). Sorry, but unless the attorney can pick a jury of idjuts, he's going down for a loooong time.
We will miss you in Prescott and will raise a few beers to you and yours. Take care. Becky

They're still stumped. They'll never figure out the infection. But the pre-existing cellulitis on my shin may have been caused by a bad vein in my leg (3 ultrasounds and 2 CT scans found nothing, although they were looking mostly for blood clots). Saw the dermatologist and a vascular surgeon today and they don't want me back for a month, so things are probably looking up. But I have no idea how soon I'll be swinging a leg over my scoot.
