I can't tell from the picture -- are those cutting heads, or cars that got in the way and got mashed into the wheel?

Yup...good ole' Martin...that's my bossman in the pictures presenting him with the award.
I'll be a TBM engineer on the 7 Line Extension job. If by some streak of luck I can sneak out for Fri-Sun I'll be there. Figure ride down from NYC Friday, eat some BBQ Saturday, then ride back Sunday. 870 miles each way...should be a doable day trip. I ain't holding my breath about getting the time off though...

This being furloughed sux but what ya gonna do... maybe only good things will happen between then and now and everybody will be able to attend..... so make me "official" dad and I will see what I can do.... ride safe.. Finally after all these years and thanks to google maps... Dixie Highway (US-41/US-72/US-64) Over Nickajack Lake (Tennessee River) Haletown: Marion County, Tennessee. Marion Memorial Bridge Quote:
Despite having an embarrassingly low number of remaining truss bridges, TDOT wants to demolish this beautiful historic bridge. Indeed, perhaps no other state has offered less of a commitment to the historic bridge community. One TNDOT official said they didn't expect than any metal truss bridges would remain in the state in the years down the road, with the exception of the Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga. Such a statement can mean only one thing: Tennessee intends to demolish every single highway truss bridge remaining in the state! This is an alarming statement, and highlights the need for the U.S. Congress to reinforce its declaration that preserving historic bridges is in the national interest, and expand existing limited preservation laws, that currently place little pressure on states like Tennessee to preserve their historic truss bridges.
