You couldn't resist, could you John? Aztec is pretty ugly. Only the Russians could make cars uglier than Nash. I think they bought their playbook.

They put a little of everything in that wagon. Are 8 headlights really enough?

The Pacer wasn't that bad. Heck I even owned one.

The Thing was a utilitarian beast that wasn't supposed to be pretty. It was copied after the WWII German Jeep equivalent and had the same “I don’t care what I look like” attitude.

The Matador was similar to a lot of other beasts of it’s time. All the US carmakers had a few of them.

The Honda and the Scion both look like the box my Mini Cooper came in.

The Aztec looks like it was designed by a committee in Japan. Certainly the ugliest vehicle built in the last 40 years. You gotta wonder what purgatory awaits the guy who bought off on that design. I first saw one in the showroom when I took my Grand Prix in for service. I looked at the salesmen with a quizzical look on my face and they just shrugged and shook their heads.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I used to think the '49 - 52 Nash Ambassador was ugly until I saw one next to an Aztec.

1960-62 Plymouth Valiant

Agreed, but strange that I should have such fond memories of a sweet but ugly '61 Valiant w/ 3 on the floor and a seemingly indestructible slant 6 - Many a drive-in movie w/ an unforgettable lass named Janie who taught me the fine art of swilling beer and what makes a young lad smile. Ah, those were the days my friend. I thought they'd never end. Sadly, Janie and the Valiant are both long gone.
Here's to ugly Valiants and passionately uninhibited ladies.

Add in the Goggomobile and Messerschmidt 3 wheeler.

As for the K car, MoPar Performance used to market a kit to convert them to rear wheel drive with a small block V8. So, some were ugly and mean.

VW Thing was a utilitarian jeep-like vehicle. I thought it was kinda cool when it came out. Not like anything (or everything) else, designed to be fun and functional. Of course, I drive a Jeep Wrangler and must like that sort of "thing".

The Aztek certainly has that WTF were they thinking look going on.

When I was a kid, my dad had a 1959 Lincoln that I was embarrassed to be seen in because it was so ugly. I wondered if it was just a trick of memory so I had another look.

Nope, still ugly

Well, I think probably every car company has made an ugly model or two, there Ian.

BUT, when you mentioned Hudson, I think the Hudson Hornet, with the "step-down", was a pretty nice lookin' car. It always kind'a remined me of a '49 Merc, which was also a pretty nice lookin' car.

Like this one perhaps???

That is possible the front and rear wheels were skirted and it was shapeless and ugly in my opinion. I could have sworn it was a Hudson though. I loved some of the Hudsons though. There was a dealer near me that when it went out of business the cars stayed on the show room floor. They were there until the early 90s when the guy died and everything was sold. The whole inventory was still there both new and used just like the day he closed the doors, sign was even still up. They tore the place down. He bought my 49 Chevy wrecker and restored it to like new. It was out near Pen Argyl , PA. I never got to look at them close but I am told the cars had like 3 to 5 miles on the odometer. The place showed it's age, the old man didn't keep it up and it probably had to be torn down. It was a shame to see it go. It was kind of like a time capsule , had all the original dust and dirt in there too! But all the dealer stuff was there too ,he kept it all.

I gotta disagree about it being ugly, and there are still some on the road. I was in Amsterdam last summer enjoying a brewsky, and one comes cruising up the street. MAJOR cool to see that, but the darned thing was TINY.
