I love the Triumph Stag
It was the first car that I drove over 100 mph. I was 16 or 17.

I loved the Europa. A guy had a lime green one in the neighborhood when I was 16. I used to drool over that car, literally - the roof line was only up to my waist! Unfortunately, that one caught fire and burned to a crisp.... Quote:
Man this thread just keeps reminding me of cars of my youth. I had a Matchbox Europa , always thought that was a cool car. Had no idea at the time what a car like that would run me.

Any list of worst cars needs to include: Everything ever made by Hyundai. Everything ever made by Kia. Hummer and sequels. My GOV.

The Pontiac Fiero was known to catch fire and burn to the frame also, how does it not make the list? And the Ford Explorer? Not the start of the SUV craze like the writer suggests, Ford Broncos and Chevy Suburbans and Jeep Cherokees have been around for a long time.
And the Hummer 2 killed the whole idea of independent suspension.

Somebody needs to do a 50 Ugliest Cars of All Time. Near the top of my list would be anything made by Nash Rambler. The Metropolitan was really ugly although it didn't look bad as a convertible.
Sorry, wasn't trying to hijack but it's better than another "cover" thread.

You talking about motorcyle covers or song covers?

Come to think of it, I lost count of how many first generation Corvairs I saw on fire. They ran the battery cable over the sharp edge of the air shroud. The rest is history, literally.
Oh yeah, sometime in the 70's I remember every third vehicle in the breakdown lane was a flaming Ford, usually a motorhome.

While much more beloved by many more people, the old school VW beetles occasionally went *poof* up in smoke when the back seat spring started to sag and touched both battery poles underneath.

Yeah, I had one of those POS. (Chevy LUV) Nothing rusts out here, but it did break the camshaft four times before a piston exploded and blew a hole in a cylinder wall. It was impressive. When I took the head off, the con rod and piston pin were intact in the cylinder. Piston gone, hole in cylinder wall.
