Well I didn't do as much riding this year as I wanted/should have/could have, altho the rides I did take were great (Bennington Bash, Triumph Truck in CT, Tech Day at Charlies, etc). I found myself spending a lot of time in the basement. Nice and cool down there in the summer, lots of tools to play with. What more can you ask for?? So it started when I made this bench... Then this clamp rack... Then I got a kicka$$ tablesaw (used with a LOT of extras). Then I pimped out the saw with an outfeed table and a custom overhead guard and dust collection. The table folds in case I need to move it Somewhere along the way I also built a book case for a friend who had a baby, and a few other little items for myself. IT was building the book case that I realised I needed a router table, so I made one... It's got great built in dust collection, and an ambient air filter built into the base. Most recently I built a scrap lumber cart to help me keep organized. Right now I've got 3 christmas presents going. I'm making a small (7" tall) wooden christmas tree for Kim's parents. They don't have room for a real one, so I hope they like it! Also making a little step stool that has the step that flips up the be a chair back for our niece who's almost 1 1/2. Plus a small planting tray for my aunt who's in a nursing home. So far the tree is the trickiest!! Anyway I haven't been around here much, so I figured I would give you all an update! I have LOTS more pics of everything, I can go into detail on the building of each thing if anyone wants to know more. Just lemme know!

Nice job on your workshop. I built a workshop in my basement, not as cool as yours, but it helps me with my projects. I will add some pictures of it if I ever get it cleaned up.

I should add, the cieling in my basement is almost exactly my height, and that's only have the room... the other half is even short, well the floor is higher. So I hope one day to actually stand up straight!
Also forgot to add I joined a community concert band a few months ago too. Feels good to be playing again regularly!

That's nice stuff, especially the bench and tables. I do a fair amount of woodworking myself. Congrats on several jobs well done!

Looks like good stuff. But your work area needs some more sawdust in it!

I'm a pretty serious woodworker myself and built a lot of the furniture in my house. I like your router table setup. That's a bit nicer than than the one I built. I should post pics of my shop too and maybe some of my furniture . Lots of similarities between our shops, Benny!

Thanks guys! Lots of work, but very rewarding. I love building stuff for the shop! Time to start making more fininshed stuff tho. Just got a small box of hickory to make some mallets out of To answer a few questions.. Heckyeah I'll be in Bennington! It's my hometown ride, wouldn't miss it. Sawdust... actually done a lot to reduce it! My dust collector is the bomb. Small, but works great with a 1 micron bag on top. Especially MDF dust is real bad for the lungs. It is satisfying to empty a 5 gallon bag of dust tho! Really puts in perspective how much dust you make... I even have the band saw hooked up! The router would make a MESS without it! As for the router table, it was super easy to build. If I had to do it over again, I would have made the compartment a little taller, I have to lift the plate up to get the motor out of the housing. I use my plunge base for hand routing and leave the fixed base in the table. Just used it tonight to put a 1/8" roundover on a few pieces. Really makes the wood feel soft!

That's some nice work Benny, I may need to borrow a couple of your design elements when I get to build my shop. Hopefully next fall.

I wish Johnny would come up here... But I'll take snow! I have no problem with it. Unfortunately it will rain and get sloppy and everyone will go nuts and buy all the bread and milk..
Spring sounds good!
