Just got their e-mail and saw this. Pretty cool. At $115 pretty low on the purchase list, but still cool. I know how fond Dwight is of nonsensical cooling fins. This should send him right over the edge.

Honestly before I scrolled down the page and saw the price I was anticipating it being closer to 2 bills.

I really like the black ones, shame the exchange rate is so poor at the moment.

Interesting idea, but that concave milling on top is trouble. It'll collect road grime and dirt, and it won't be easy to clean out because of the sharp edge. This would be a better product if the top was smooth, and even better if it was slightly convex.

I thought the concave shot was the side where the spring would push against when I first glanced at the page. Convex would be much better given how easily aluminum marks from water laying on it. Plus it seems it would catch road dirt.

It is...the part that would be the top also has a very shallow machined step into it. I just dont see the concern.

Granted I dont have the time on my bike like some of you guys but does the area behind the motor (where these carb caps would actaully be) get that dirty? Same goes for water spray (unless your cleaning your bike).

I would imagine that if you spend $115 bucks on this that your probably also ok with wiping the area down every once in a while.

I was thinking more along the lines of holding condensation over the winter or bike out in the rain while camping or parked after a ride in the rain where water would drip there possibly. Road dirt gets everywhere too. Just no reason to have the top concave that I can think of and if slightly convex water would shed off it instead of puddle. You would still need to wipe it off even if convex since aluminum does mark easily. I'm sure they are coated so wouldn't be an issue right away. Plus as others have said they are just not my taste. I wasn't trying to knock them or anything just making an observation of a possible draw back to the design.

I keep coming back to this thread and I keep looking at those caps.
I know what your talking about and Ive been trying to imagine them without that concave portion. I think we can all agree that its strictly asthetic. I dont know that it would look much better if it was all flat or even if that part was convex.

BTW...I dont know that concave and convex are the right words to be using here but they explain it best so...

maybe flat with a "six shooter" theme, a Triumph "T" etched into it, or a Union Jack....yeah....Id buy em if they had a Union Jack on it.

I'm sure you could get a Triumph "T" etched into the "recessed circle" (hows that?).

Yep, could epoxy a round emblem of some sort there and illiminate both problems, dish & alum.
I like my solution best, left the classic "Stock" piece there, and left the $130.00 for something of more importance.
