I have a set of H-D Heritage bars on my America. $15 on Ebay. For me (5'11", average arms)they are perfect. The grips are just below shoulder level. I like my fists facing directly out, these have very little pull-back or drop (very different than Buckhorn style bars).
The stock wiring and cables work with these bars (moved my wires inside the bars, which were already drilled for that).
There are a lot of mini-ape bar options out there (chumps, chimps, etc.) I really like the Biltwell "Chumps", if I were buying new, I'd really look at them:
