Why would you want to buy oil recommended for a diesel engine? It's got a totally different additive package. Different soot levels, contaminants, etc etc. Synthetic motorcycle oil (no matter what type) is better than non MC oil. It's designed for the application. Having said that, will non MC oil affect the life of our engines. Given the low mileage we put on our bikes, probably not, because we usually don't wear them out. Also will oil not certified for clutch use affect clutch life? In a standard application, probably not. Down the road the clutch might be more prone to slippage though.
For those of you who want to save a buck on the life blood of an engine, go for it.....
