I agree, oil is oil. I use Mobile-1 15-50 synthetic non-mc oil. $23 for 5 qts. at Wal-mart. Change it once a year or every 6-10,000 miles whichever comes first. I decided early on I'm not going to pay $15 per qt. for MC oil.
