Does the Hound have a back door? On the other hand, I think everyone should experience the Hume-idor. Or at least provide their friends with the complimentary free breakfast chits.

C'mon Rocket Bob/Z. Join the "Icefield highway" party, I'll even let that sheep humour slide.

Here's something interesting... The Hume Hotel was owned by Fred Hume back in the late 1800's. Years ago, when I lived in Nelson I owned the original Fred Hume house (still standing). It was built in 1891 and we lived in it when we celebrated the 100th year anniversary of the oldest house in Nelson. There were blocked off tunnels leading from the house to the Hume Hotel. The entrance was in our basement! Can you dig it!!!

It's the road up & through Jasper Z, riding among the glaciers, aka "Icefield highway". Like FJ said, the "long way" to Nelson.

Quite a story regarding the Hume.

I'm pretty stoked too. I just met John H and Gordie this weekend... oh, and Rene. Met Marty (from this forum) at TR. Then John and Gordie talked about a pilot with an English accent. I got to thinking... my flight instructor from Nelson fits that description. "Is his name Chris," I inquire? Same guy! When I got back from living in Africa he had left Nelson and we lost contact. So he might be in Nelson too from what I understand. Anyway looking forward to meeting ya all.

Not too shabby. Not too hot. Maybe a touch of rain here and there.

Yeah, I'd much rather have that weather than heat. I think we've seen just about everything but snow or non-stop rain at the Kootenay Raid over these many years.

My niece was at the BBQ yesterday and she works in Nelson, formerly at the New Grand. I was telling her about the Raid and she said she's served at that event. Anyway, I heard you're all a bunch of rowdies and I'm crazy to even consider joining in.

Okay... not really, she said everyone was fun and entertaining and that I'm certain to have a good time. Anyone remember her? Her name is Amanda, (she's a bit wild herself) she has several facial piercings, strawberry blond hair and a bit of a gravelly voice.

Btw... rain's cleared up and I think we're in for another stretch of good ol' Kootenay summer weather!

Well, we're not going to Jasper and Kamloops. In fact, we're still in Thompson Falls, MT, at Freedom's house. We're going straight to Nelson a day early. Tonight my bike sleeps at Empire Cycles in Spokane, but it is fixed. Some electrical gremlin-they'll explain when I pick it up tomorrow morning. Then we'll come back to T-Falls, load up and head north (assuming my bike makes it back here with no additional problems).

Sorry to hear about your woes there FriarJ, but then again, two Johns don't make a Dwight! WTF! Just some funny stuff to cheer you up. Hey, if ya want guys can come to Trail and hang with me until Thursday. I got 2 couches.

PS... to be honest, I think you guys avoided a bunch of nasty rain.

TBA is running INCREDIBLE. Ran like a scalded ape from Spokane to Thompson Falls. I still have a short somewhere in my driving light harness. That can wait. The big problem involved a corroded connection in the kick stand kill switch circuit. Runs great now. Off to Nelson.

P.S. Empire Cycles in Spokane RULES.

I only have three pics from the ride/event this year. For some reason I was not the shutterbug I was last year...

These are from the ride over:
I90 bridge over the Columbia about 32 miles east of Ellensburg, wa.

Davis lake. I found a nice shady pull out.

and finally a bit of personal bragging...
