I was in one of my stores today working on a display and lo and behold ... I heard music... christmas music. My stomach turned... Ive been in retail since I was 15 and I swear every year its happens earlier and earlier but I have NEVER heard chrsitmas music before Thanksgiving until this year.  ok...rant over.

Likewise, here in the Norfolk area Christmas is all but in full swing except for the present shopping.
2005 America, green/gray, gutted stock pipes, tall sissy bar w/ luggage rack, Saddleman's dual touring seat and Tourmaster saddlebags (and sissybar bag).

Local radio station here ran a full Xmas program with music two days before halloween. One of my clients put up her tree last week. I used to like Xmas a lot more when I was a kid, but it's harder now to appreciate anything christmassey when you have to look at it for two months. I really try for that "old timey feeling", but it's difficult. One of my favorite things to do is to make wooden toys. Nice designs, cool little paintings on the side for embellishment. But I learned long ago that todays kids will smash them in about ten minutes. (I once spent a WEEK making a scale model wooden motorcycle which looked like a 57 Triumph and gave it to our grandson. It lasted less than 5 minutes) So three or four loving hours of work are totally wasted. One of my few successes with toys was to build small dolls, with working arms and legs and head, that my wife dressed. Each doll had a theme which coincided with a sister-in-laws interest. They really liked them.

For me it's not so much that it's Chritsmas music playing everywhere, it'sjust that it's the same stuff over and over and over and over and over again.

For me the "season" begins with the annual Christmas Parade winding it's way down Main Street of the Greater Thompson Falls Metroplex. Groups on hay wagons, shiny dump trucks, every rig in town (ambulance, fire, cop) with a flashing light bar. It ends with a cement (Seement) mixer pouring warm water on a guy trailering behind in a bath tub  jh
