I had the bolt that holds the rear brake lever come loose while on the highway a few years ago. I didn't lose it though, it stayed in the lever and I pulled over and put it back. Not bad for 37,000 miles. I have since gotten into the habit of checking closely for loose nuts and bolts every time I wash the bike and giving little squirts of lube to those items that need it.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
