Hello Kevin,
I drove my 23-T Roadster around the streets of Northern NJ in 1967 and 68. I'm originally from Mahwah up on the New York State boarder but have been in Northern Ca since the US AF dropped me off here in 1973.
Where do you reside?
I also ride a 05 Speedmaster that I have been customizing with Stainless steel bits and pieces for the last 3 years. It's a great bike to ride and in my opinion one of the best looking bikes on the street. That is exactly why I’m so excited about the T-bird. Besides being a Triumph it stirs-up memories of my Hot Rod 23-T roadster just like the Speedmaster did when I first saw it – They are both Hot Rods in their own right. I doubt I will purchase very many of Triumphs accessories for the bike but from my perspective there sure are a lot of places to put stainless steel on the Thunderbird.
I will not let my Speedmaster go – I do like the air-cooled fins and carburetors that I can work on but I sure am anxious to get my hands on a T-bird to make one good looking touring bike out of it. I plan to be riding one out to NJ to visit friends and family in 2010.
As far as your comment on Delivery – I think I’m the only one saying it will be here in early 09.
The rags have been saying Summer of 09 all along. They just keep forgetting that it is always riding weather in Ca (summer) so they get confused and assume July September is what Triumph means.
I hope I’m right on the timing and Fast Eddy and or New Bonneville is pumping out after-market pieces for the T-bird by this coming summer.

Happy Holidays to you All,

Gary
