In MD, prices are definitely higher. Gun was $519. Here's the same gun at GunBroker.com. Looks like it could go for the opening bid of $425. But, with shipping and transfer fees($25 & $50) I'm within $20 of that price. At least I was able to handle and compare the gun to the more expensive (and way heavier) Ruger GP100. The guy gave me some ammo advice (38's and +38's) and is there if I ever need work done.

Also good news - I found a good place to shoot 25 minutes from the house. Neighbor stopped over and saw the box of shells on the counter and concluded I bought a pistol. She said I'm welcome at their family farm (100 acres) to shoot at my leisure. Not sure I was ready to join a local club to shoot at their range, we'll see how addictive this is.
