On my way to the fire station yesterday, I had a car make a left turn right in front of me. Scored a direct hit on the rear door at about 35 mph. The front end of the bike crumpled all the way back through the rad/oil cooler and into the engine. The fairing became about a thousand pieces. One fork broke in half and the other broke the tripple tree. About a foot long arc of the front wheel shattered. I flew over the bars, cleared the car and landed flat on my back in the same lane in which I was travelling. I was immediately on my feet thankful that all my bones were still intact and on the inside. About 30 seconds later I had a deep burning sensation in my groin and left thigh. I unzipped my brand new, worn only twice insulated rain suit to take a quick inventory. All there but very sore! A quick trip to the er to find out no bones broken, just pulled a few muscles and bruised up my junk! Since I know 3/4 of the er nurses in a 150 mile radius, I left there with a strong shot in the butt and some good prescriptions to get me through the next few days. Old faithful speedy fired right up for me today. Can't let totalling a bike keep you down. Time to start getting serious about what my next bike will be. I really believe the riding postion on the sprint saved my bacon.

Glad you're ok, bro. Sounds like you got really lucky, except for totaling the bike.

Charlie,

You sound a lot calmer about the accident than I would ever be. Glad your ok, and it sounds like a new Sprint is in order.

I am thinking Tiger or R3 Touring.

She was about to flip out. Found out from one of the cops that her brother was killed recently in a bike accident.

The dreaded lefty.

I’m glad you made it through in good shape.

Many years ago I had an old lady do the same to my wife and me on a brand new 82 Sportster with less than 100 miles on it.

I was going 30 when I locked them down and hit her smack in the middle.
It knocked both of her hubcaps off and she ran over the side of my leg AFTER she got out and saw what had happened.

Her insurance and $1.200 later I was back on the road.
It ruined my wife and motorcycles forever.
For me it was old hat.

I am very glad to hear you are Ok.

Yep. Been there, done that, many years ago. Glad you're okay! You've got a story to tell for years, now. Take it easy for a couple of days, some pain starts a little later.

Dam Charlie, good thing you were wearing that second helmet down there. Good to hear you are gonna survive. Sorry 'bout the 'sickle.

Sorry, I missed ya' this September. If my dam brother would stop kicking my bike because it is beautiful we could have gotten some Arkansas riding in. See ya soon bro.

I vote R3 Touring!

It must have looked like one of those "Chipes" crashes where Ponch just got up and walked away with that toothy smile because he knew Merlin was gonna be ******.

Charlie,

I'm certain that there are some "ladies" in the Dahlonega GA bingo Circles that are all breathing a collective sigh of relief that your 'junk' is all good!
Really glad to hear you're ok! 35 into the side of anything...let alone a 2000lb vehicle could have had a completely different outcome!

That really sucks. I'm glad you are in one piece, Charlie. I hope you get a good piece of change from the insurance for that new bike.

Whewww! I think the margin between OK & Not OK is pretty slim sometimes. Very glad to hear you fell on the "OK" side Charlie.

Hmmmm, I'd be sorely tempted by the Tiger

Thanks goodness you walked away from the tbone. Stay tight brother. Words cannot express my relief that your are OK.

So, you said you "flew over the bars", huh Charlie Parker?

Well, I suppose we can call you "Bird" now TOO, huh?!

(glad to hear you ended up in reasonably good shape after this little gig!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

You'd think that this would make her pay more attention to motorcycles...

So let me get this straight, you wreck your bike and hurt your junk; not from the drunk riding or crazy women (who might try to damage both) but from riding responsibly and going to work.

Glad to hear you're ok and that it was someone else's fault rather than a result of other choices you've made.

I bet he had them double check his junk to make sure it's still working fine.

Or five for you an one for me

Just kidding, sucks about that happening but I'm glad to hear you're ok. About the new bike, my vote is for the Tiger, same power plant as the speed triple but set up to spend a lot more time on, I think that'd be a good choice for someone who has no issues spending 25ish hours straight on a bike.

Get better! Build a chopper! You've got the perfect doner bike. Oh yeah, get a new TBA also, assuming you're able to wring out proper compensation for this monumental travesty some cage driver has foisted upon you.
Honestly, glad you're O.K. Anything that can be fixed doesn't matter all that much.

I think a chopper with the sprint motor would be sweet. But that poor girl has a few too many hard miles on her. Picked her up from the impound yard today and brought her home. Gonna have a memorial service tomorrow bright and early, 1400 is early right! Talk about highway robbery, cost $182 to free the beast! Cash only. I'll add that to the tab. Healing up just fine. Tested all equipment and like a timex, takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!

Thanks for all the love.

There is a custom (I don't know if I would call it a chopper) in the new Jan/Feb Roadbike magazine with a 1050cc sprint engine.
