On my way to the fire station yesterday, I had a car make a left turn right in front of me. Scored a direct hit on the rear door at about 35 mph. The front end of the bike crumpled all the way back through the rad/oil cooler and into the engine. The fairing became about a thousand pieces. One fork broke in half and the other broke the tripple tree. About a foot long arc of the front wheel shattered. I flew over the bars, cleared the car and landed flat on my back in the same lane in which I was travelling. I was immediately on my feet thankful that all my bones were still intact and on the inside. About 30 seconds later I had a deep burning sensation in my groin and left thigh. I unzipped my brand new, worn only twice insulated rain suit to take a quick inventory. All there but very sore! A quick trip to the er to find out no bones broken, just pulled a few muscles and bruised up my junk! Since I know 3/4 of the er nurses in a 150 mile radius, I left there with a strong shot in the butt and some good prescriptions to get me through the next few days. Old faithful speedy fired right up for me today. Can't let totalling a bike keep you down. Time to start getting serious about what my next bike will be. I really believe the riding postion on the sprint saved my bacon.
