Nice to see another Speedmaster on the site from the UK,
Let's face it Martyn you need more Speedmasters on this site as America's out number them by far.
Welcome aboard Cookie!

Let's face it....quality is only appreciated when there's a benchmark - the America is that benchmark and the Speedmaster is that quality (although the red ones are the pinnacle) Jan PS there's now 9 definites and three to confirm - looking good...

Hi all
I have it in my diary...the leave form is filled in...just need to wait till Tueday to book it. We have this silly rule that we can't book days more than 3 months in advance. I've even put a reminder in my mobile to send the form of when I arrive at work on Tuesday.
So I'll be coming...if nothing happens between now and then.
You know how it is...

I shall organise myself, as usual, the night before and not a minute sooner! When Martyn arrives (and Hedgehog?) to kip at mine the night before, we'll sort it out in the boozer over the road.

Could of guessed the "BOOZER" would come into the equation somewhere, then everyone wonders why we get lost!(Talybont, Talybont on Usk, Talybont who knows elsewhere)
Well we still have to arrange a meeting place, depending on which route you will all be taking?

OK, so I lied - some organising has been done.
We're meeting Shaun 'on the M1' .. somewhere!
I usually get used to the motorway junctions wherever I move to but I'm still a bit vague with the M1! I think from here, the signs send you J24 (24a?).
Like I said LOADS of time yet to sort it out.

...but isn't it funny how "loads of time" suddenly turns into "we've gotta do it by WHEN???" on a fairly regular basis ?
Ade, what junction you thinking of? My wife (who is a native of those parts) informs me that M6 is probably best bet for me and Paul so you gonna do M1 > M62 > M6?
All the best

Hey Jan At the risk of shooting myself in the foot with directions again (Talybont, Talybont-on-Usk!!!), I haven't even looked where were're going yet so I'm going to say "no comment" until I've looked on a map! Suffice to say, where I am, I'm probably as close to the M6 as I am the M1. Given the choice, I'd rather go west to the M6 and head up that way (east through Derby etc is a pain). I'd join somwhere around J11-12 so if that's the way you're going after meeting up with Paul, a meet would be a piece of p!ss!! From here, I could jump onto the M6 Toll and get off just before J12 (A5) which is past the services. Get off at 12 and whoever gets there first, wait for the others (it's a big island and usually quiet).

Yep, sounds like a plan is coming together...dont'cha just love it when that happens? Ahem: IMHO - as to your route, have you considered A511 > A50 (which is all fast dual carriageway) > A500 at Stoke then join M6 northbound at jct 15. We will probably do M40 > M42 > M6 toll and meet up with your party at Keele Services which is just North of J15. It's a more direct route for you and saves paying the evil toll road charges! Anyway, I'm sure that we'll all get there - somehow!! Regards Jan

Hey jan M6 is only about 1/2hour from here - to go to Stoke would take longer (A38 is also a fast dual carraigeway ... 100+ possibly all the way if'n you want! ). The route past Uttoxeter to Stoke takes approx 1hr. In the last couple of weeks I've done the route to / through Stoke, through Derby to M1 (both north and south) and the A38 to M6 / M6 Toll. Latter is quickest for us. Note to anyone visiting Stoke: it is STILL all dug up and is a nightmare, even coming out at midnight. Just exactly how many more years are they going to be working on it I wonder???

Hey Jan Quote:
PS when are you off to Scotland?
I shall get ready on 30th and set off morning of 31st.
I haven't planned it yet (no suprise there then!) but a mate says 4 and a bit hours to Edinburgh!
He drives a 3.2 V6 Vectra though so I'll take his time frame with a biiiiig pinch of salt!
My old clunker will take much longer, if it gets there at all I'm going whether I drive or get there on the back of an AA transporter.
I may be getting another car on Thursday but as the MOT has expired on it, I may be stuck for getting it done before Saturday morning. A new year change for me - I've never had a BMW before. This will be my 10th car since passing my test and it will be the 9th different manufacturer!!

Ade, If we are meeting you at J12, there is a truckers cafe about 1/4 mile before J12 on right hand side of road, coming from your direction, they do a good brew!!! Might be easier to meet there than on the roundabout.
