I took my mufflers off today for a good cleaning and guess what, I then went for a ride without them. Car alarms went off, windows shattered, dogs ran off and folks form all around peed their pants. Who says Harleys are the only ones that sound like that. I have to admit for out on the open road I really like it. I need to make some exhaust cut outs for the Speedy so when the cops are near or in the neighborhood it will be it's normal loud not realy loud. Maybe if a Harley is around along with a cop near I can throttle it then go back quite and the other guy gets the ticket. Worth

You should have bought a Harley. They are way better looking than Triumphs, faster, more maneuverable and just a lot easier to own. They also sound better and the Harley shops are much cooler than Triumph shops.

Wow ... this thread is still kickin'?? OK, one more bit of unwisdom. Where I work, everyone except me has a V-twin, and those guys don't dare give me crpa about ridin' a Triumph. Why? Cause everytime it rains, they're in a cage, and I let 'em know what I think about that. I do it in front of the whole workplace, too. They usually give out some pansy excuse, like "I don't have a rainsuit yet," or "my windshield was in the garage." Then they slink away. About the third time I did that, they stopped the BS. Now, whenever it rains, the non-MC crowd asks if I rode in and I get thumbsup. Bugs the livin' snot oughta the HD gang.

I live less than 50 miles from Milwaukee so around here HD's are like opinions and a$$ h*les. Everybody seems to have one. So, of course, I'm the only Triumph in the pack. But, everywhere I go, the bike turns heads and a lot of the old time bikers come over to take a look and talk. Only once did a guy try talking smak. But the old timer with him cut him off. He said he owned an old bonny back in the day. Told me when he was younger, he prefered riding triumphs to pushing a harley.

yeah at the local watering hole there will be maybe one honda, perhaps a yamaha both of which get NO respect from the dozen hardly riders, but most of em like and respect a triumph, if someeone wants to give me crap, I always ask what they paid for their bike then tell em waht mine cost, then I ask how much they;ve spent in the last year on maintenance then let em know what Ive spent, thats usually the end of it

The other day I was out riding, and I met a harley rider on the road. He smoked me on the straights, but I'd always catch up and pass him in the turns. In the end, I was ahead when we parted ways. But I swear, that's the fastest I've ever pedaled.

This might make you feel better... A co-worker bought a 90 something HD with an S&S motor and carb. It was too strong of a bike for him, so he needed some lot time to get comfortable with the bike. Fast forward 2 months, I asked how the bike was working out and and if he was getting any good Fall riding in. He replied with, "nows not a good time to ask, it fowling plugs."
I had a hard time holding the comments back.
He then told me that he had a "mechanic" go though the bike and $800 later it's still fowling the plugs... no trailer or truck to get it to a dyno. Haahaa.
The last ride this guy took, it fowled the plugs 3miles from the house, changed plugs and got another mile and a half before it did it again.
I will say it sure is a pretty bike, just won't run.
Update: another $900 later this guy is riding, finally! It turned out to be plug wires and gaskets. I saw him today... Its gonna be 63 on Thanksgiving. Him ... yep Im riding.
Finally!!
