I'm looking to powder coat the wheels on my 07 America - black.
Has anyone done it on the new alloy wheels and got any pics to share ?

Mmmm, that's got me thinking.. I'm liking the look of the alloy on the sides, but then again all black looks badass too. Thanks for the pic Brokenfixed.

That looks pretty cool. That's kinda the look I want for my spoked wheels.

Nope. And I want the spokes black, not the hoops.

Such a shame they got rid of the spoked wheels, I wouldn't buy a new now because of that...

I agree, it is a shame. Also makes less of a difference between the SM and BA now plus the cases are black on both now too except the side covers being chrome on the BA. I like that look better but again it makes the BA more like the SM. I have grown to love my mags on my SM but originally I wanted the spoked wheels. I still like the spoked look much better but I don't miss washing them!

I'm with Ian in that it's nice to be able to cheer on the differences between the SM and BA. I hope they don't get any closer to eachother than they are now.

Ok I've decided to pull the trigger on this and get the wheels blacked out. Wheels will go in next week. I'll post some pics up when it's done.
While the wheels are off I'm thinking about pulling the forks and replacing the bottom shrouds with gaitors.

Why dont you buy a set like that and have the axles made to fit the Triumph forks?. Performance machine makes the wheels....Angelis

Post your pics when you get your wheels back. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they turned out. Aw, go ahead and tell us the long story...it's cold and there's nothing else to do but read crap on here anyway.

Ya, those look good. Pretty close to your paint mock-up above. I like the blacked out look. I noticed you ride without your chain guard...do you ever get grime thrown up or on your bike without it?

Thanks roadworthy and Dunnspeed for the comments. The rims were supposed to have a thin off white pinstripe along the outer edges, and that was the hold up. But ended up going back to the original all black idea.
Looking at it now I'm glad I did. Now I'm itching to get on with the next mods. I still want to remove the bottom fork shrouds and replace them with gaitors. Then chop the rear fender and replace the original tail light with a Lucas tail light. Either cut or try and find a second hand SM front fender. And lastly doing something about the side cover with that skew stuck on America sticker that grates me every time I look at it. Maybe I'll just matt black that cover, seeing as the bottom half of the bike is mostly matt black.
Dunnspeed, no issues without the chain gaurd. I do get a bit of chain lube flick up onto the sides of the rear fender but nothing Clean Green doesn't sort out.

Sorry Reef, one more question...I like your rear signals and your set up there. Mind if I ask where you found em?

Hey Dunn, I'm not sure where the rear signals originated from. Getting stuff here in South Africa is a mission second to none. I sourced the indicators from a local guy here that brings in shipment from the States about once a month. He deals mostly in Harleys. I think he gets a lot of his stuff from Custom Chrome and a couple of other sources that he keeps close to his chest.
Otherwise I buy online and have it shipped over, but the courier costs are horrific. You guy's are lucky over there, plenty of choice. I know my bars and risers are from Custom Chrome. I sourced those from the local guy I deal with.
