I recently got one too and ran into the same issue. I think a load equalizer is needed as well.
Mine worked the first few times with teh runnign lights but eventually started to not want to flash for a right turn.

I looked at doing teh springs and decided it wasnt going to be possible as out switch assembly is all but sealed. It might be possible if the assembly was completely torn apart adn modified. Im talking about the actual white switch assembly found inside teh black control housing.
