Quote: We live in a democracy down here, where voting is compulsory.
Thus we have voters who are politically ignorant and easily swayed by electioneering propoganda.
The next problem is that the major parties have pretty equal sharing of votes, and they need the support of the minority such as, tree huggers, do gooders and ratbags to gain power.
So when they get power they have to pay back favours.
So much for government by the people for the people, much more like government for the people by the loonies.
Nope! That doesn't seem to ring a bell at all with us folks up north of the equator, dude. Nope! Not at all!
(well...that of course is IF you're NOT talkin' about all those "commercials" we Yanks "get" to watch on the ol' TV just before each and every election courtesy of all those "kind folks" out there runnin' for some kind o' office or somethin'...and I suppose that "might be" if you're ALSO NOT talkin' about all those OTHER "commercials" those OTHER "kind folks" who seem to be spendin' an awful lot o' money to try and scare ya into votin' for their little pet propositions that are ALSO quite often on the ballot....But of course that "may not be exactly" what you're talkin' about here my Aussie friend, so lets just forget that I brought that up, OKAY?!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
