We live in a democracy down here, where voting is compulsory.
Thus we have voters who are politically ignorant and easily swayed by electioneering propoganda.
The next problem is that the major parties have pretty equal sharing of votes, and they need the support of the minority such as, tree huggers, do gooders and ratbags to gain power.
So when they get power they have to pay back favours.
So much for government by the people for the people, much more like government for the people by the loonies.
