Was on a ride this past weekend and ran into a group of HD riders at a stop. Several drifted over and mentioned how they liked my Triumph but wouldn't trade for the lack of ponies under the tank. Two of them said they saw the new T-Bird in one of the mags recently and that they really liked what they saw, especially the 1600cc's. Both said they had Triumphs back in the day and would love to have another one. One of the guys said he had actually put a deposit down on one and was looking forward to selling his HD and getting back on the Triumph. Said it would be nice to have something different. I just smiled and didn't say a word.

Of course, it would take them 3 days of wide-open-throttle to catch the Rocket that passed them an hour ago.

I got a laugh from that, considering my '03 America is about 5 MPH faster than my '07 Night Train...

Well GB, maybe those Harley riders had all that "inexpensive" "Screaming Eagle" stuff bolted to their bikes so they could go all of 6 MPH faster than a stock one? Ever think about THAT?!

(and BTW...Am I wrong here or didn't Don Rickles once make a guest appearance playing "Screaming Eagle" on an old episode of "F-Troop"???...you remember, right?!...he ran around screamin', "Kill! Kill! Kill the White Man!!!"...it was friggin' HILARIOUS, dude!!!)

That statement allways kills me but whats the point of arguing.

Of course, they would have to go 3 days WITH OUT needing service!

My favorite gag is a roll of duct tape in a Harley bag.

You must know different Harly riders than I do. None of my guys will EVER consider a L/C bike-unless Harley makes it. Yes, I know, V-Rod. They all hate it. Funny bunch, those guys!

Ya know it's funny how this works. It's group mentality most of the time, where they bash anything not HD but talk to the same guys alone and they are different and tend to say they like Triumph and often had one at one time or another. Then there are the bulk of the life long older bikers, they for the most part respect the Triumph and like them. They will stand and talk for quite some time about bikes, HD, Triumph, BSA, Norton, or any other bike you car to talk about. Most, like myself lose interest, when the talk goes to the Jap bikes. I even get quite a bit of pos. talk about my old BMW when I ride it.

I feel very comfortable riding my Triumph to local HD gatherings. Never had a problem but some good conversations.

If I owned a japanese cruiser I would not feel as comfortable.

At last May's SWTF a few of us took a short ride. At a stop, these two (front left) Old school Harley riders came over to admire the Triumphs and talk bikes for a spell.

Never had a problem with the biker-Harley group either. The only smart butt comments you get is from the hardley nerd that after two decades of wearing Harley gear was able to scrape enough money to buy one.
