Well, this is exciting! Member Hasse and I have this project doing our Wiseco 904 Big Bore together. A couple of weeks ago we teared down our engines and shipped the barrels to Jojje (the turbo guy you all know) for boring, sleeving and honing. Today Hasse picked up the barrels from the post office and we'll meet tomorrow to get it all together. Doing two is twice as fun! The feeling right now is somewhat like when you were a kid waiting for Santa.  Of course we will leave a full report here! Keep your fingers crossed!

My BB kit was installed almost a year ago. Still seems like a new bike. Totally happy with the power and torque. Have fun!

You guys are bad influences. Why is it that I don't NEED the big bore kit I just WANT it? My bike has enough power as it is for my type of riding. Is it just in men's DNA that bigger is better? Oh, the expenditures!
But I digress, let us know how it turns out.

Did you have the SS long slash cuts before the BB kit? If so, are they louder now? I just added the SS longs last month -just curious.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Yes, I had the SS pipes before the BB. They are not louder now, but definitely sound different. The overall pitch is slightly lower. The lower pitch actually doesn't seem as loud as before, but lower frequencies never seem as loud as higher frequencies. I loved the sound of the SS pipes ever since I got them when my bike was new. I love them even more since the BB.

Today my bike is alive also!  For this project me and Piper has followed 'Dinquas Big Bore instuctions' closely. A big thank to Pat for his great work with the these instuctions. In the same spirit we would like to contribute our experiance during this project. At two points during the re-Installation we slightly changed the procedure. First place was when we got to the 'Re-Installation of Pistons'. This alternative method was suggested by Piper and applied with success on both our bikes. Prepare the pistons according to Pats instruction. But instead of fitting them to the rods turn the cylinders upside down and mounted both pistons into the sleeves. Be careful to get the arrow in the right direction. Then turn the cylinders around and carefully slide it down on the engine bolts. Align the first rod with the piston hole and insert the gudgeon pin and secure it with the circlip, and then the same procedure for the second piston. And let the cylinders continue down in correct position The second place where we turned into an alternative way was regarding the Re-Installation of Cam Chain, Sprocket and Tensioner. This is how we did it. Easy method if you are two persons. Follow Pats instruction exactly up until you have the the Cam Chain nice and tight in the correct postion on the Sprocket. Now instead of installing the Drive Gear Shaft through the Sprocket let Person 1 hold the Sprocket with the Cam Chain in a tight and correct position while Person 2 inserts and secure the forward (Exhaust) Cam Tensioner Blade followed by the rear (Inlet) Cam Tensioner Blade. After both Cam Tensioner Blades are in place insert the Drive Gear Shaft with the washers and Retaing bolts according to Pats procedure. And check that all the timing marks still are in the correct position. So, now we are just waiting for somewhat warmer weather for the burn-in procedure. Also a thank to Jojje for all his work with re-sleeving our cylinders. Hasse

Are there any performance kits for the 07's or are those motors pushed as far as they can go?

+3°C = 37°F. First hard ride á la Motoman done. Did around 20 miles in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear up to 6000 rpm and motorbraking. Did this over and over again. And yes, like you who have done this already said - it's crazy. Tons more torque and a deeper, nicer sound from the T-bikes. Now I have changed the oil and filter and the next ride will have to wait until the temp goes up a couple of degrees. The barnett clutch springs did their job, and there was no slipping at all. I'm one happy camper right now, and I think I've earned a large whiskey and a couple of Then I think I'll just go out into the shed and sit there and look at the beast.

Did you replace the clutch plates also or just the springs? When I did my 904 the springs worked good for a while, about 5-6 thousand miles, but now I get slippage in all my gears, even 5th on the highway sometimes. So a new clutch is in the plans for me soon.

The Grin is on! +8°C = 46°F, rain, wet and misty and I just returned from my first 25 miles of break-in procedures and everything seams to be just like everybody before me has reported - WOW!!.  It will be a long wait now until springtime that is for sure. Hasse

Yeah, it's kinda hard to explain how different the 904 is. Big change more like a whole different engine. I love the torque.

The best part is that I can accelerate just as fast 2-up loaded with gear as I used to be able to do solo before the 904

Ditto, I did the BB because I ride 2-up a lot. It seems to be just as strong 2-up as solo now.

I'd glad to say I have my power addiction under control. Like a lot of people on this forum, I was happy with mods on the 790 performance. My bike came with a 17T front sprocket which made it quick off the line but I was always looking for 6th. I changed to a 18T the first year which eliminated my cruising and gearing complaint, but I craved more power starting off - especially 2-up.
I did the BB almost a year ago and over the last year have tweaked it near it's potential. I love the bike more than when I bought it and more than any I can presently see in any showroom. It's giving me everything I hoped for with the BB and I can keep my craving under control. I doubt I'll be drooling over a T-bird or risking any problems or reliability issues with more engine work.
I just worry about what would I would do if I lost my bike. I like the laced wheels, enjoy tweaking the carbs, don't mind adjusting the chain, and really LOVE the classic Triumph look on a cruising bike.

i hear ya. there are really no bikes out there that make me want a new bike. but i dont know if i will ever get my power addiction under control. good thing is by the time i can afford a bigger bore kit there will be enough people who have had them for awhile and i can see how reliable they are

Congratulation Bengt (and Hasse also). It seems to me that you are well prepared now for next year TBA Rally "Road to Hel" and there's no devil to stop you. No more "Rent a car" Rallys.
