I have been toying w/ using some thin stainless and bending it around the battery and using the clamp to hold it in, but as far as making a cover out of fiber glass,, not really thought about that.

That's the best cover I've seen so far, but I like the curved one on the other side.

That is my favorite cover. I am waiting for someone to make one that fits the carburated models.

Hi Lee
The guy made one for me, and subsequently decided to sell a few extra, also checkout the shifter rod in Chrome. Now that does look nice.

i went to my local DIY store bought some stainless and bent it around the battery works great they even had checker plate style my sheet was about 30cm by 60cm and polished works for me and cheaper than Mr Bloors one i also used the stock strap but remember to cut around the battery terminals or you could get sparks

Heres mine. $2.20 from the local hobby house. For the same price, they have chrome, copper, S.S., and brass. 4" x 12" sheets in various thicknesses.
And you may see me tonight

Those are nicely done alright gentlemen, however I don't think this is what Clay has in mind here. Sounds to me like he's looking for a more "symmetrical" look, and something for the left side which will cover most of the battery and that's as much as a mirror image copy of the right side panel as possible...right Clay?! Well, if that is indeed what you're looking to do, I'm sorry but I know of no one who making such an animal at present. My only suggestion at this time would be for you to buy some 3/32 or 1/8in sheet aluminum and start hammerin' and english wheelin' away at that metal, which sounds to me like a heck of a lot of work, not to mention that doing this takes quite the craftmanship to begin with, what with all the compound curves involved in such an endeavor. (but I like your idea, dude...something like that would probably look pretty darn good!)

I guess I'll have to start working on it. I may design in my CAD program and make a rapid prototype. If it works like I want I'll cast them!

Yep, that's what I thought, but unless you have some experience with either forming aluminum OR with making a buck for it and then laying fiberglass over the buck and making it that way, you'd pretty much have to work hand-in-hand with some pro who could do this for you after your initial design was finalized. And the hardest part would probably be designing some concealed tabs for mounting it to the bike somehow, just like on the right-side cover.
(but like I said, that sounds like a lot o' work and quite the expense to me here, but it probably would turn out looking pretty good)

"CAST them"!!! That's a good idea! Such as sand-casting them, right?!

There may be several options. Sand casting is one, and may be the most cost effective. There is a way to make them in metal using a technology called SLS(stereo Lithography sintering) which essentially makes them one or maybe a couple at a time from a CAD model. I can also get them made in plastic using a very similar process, but they're not as durable, and may need to be "bondoed" and painted.
I'll work on some costs and feasability.

A man with a plan. I like it! Keep us updated on your progress, if you will. And if you decide to proceed with this idea, and if you can keep the costs reasonable, I just might be interested in the second one you make!

I saw a really good one on the weekend but no camera. Someone used a steel plate and cut it leaving the outline of the bars of the Union Jack about one inch wide. Chromed it up and fit it under the strap.
Looked really good.
