The other day I returned to my car after a meeting a noticed that the passenger door was scratched. My initial thought was - who the ****!! On closer inspection the scratch marks spelt a name.....the name of my youngest daughter. The lettering was perfect about 8 inches high with a capital letter and nicely underlined. Now ordinarily I would be proud to see that my 4 year old daughter could spell her name and do it neatly. Now just to paint the picture this had been done with a stone and gone over several times for maximum effect. When I got home that night I gave her the curly finger took her to the car (exhibit A) and asked her if she had done it - she said no. I then asked her what she had used - she said she can't remember. And finally I asked her was it a stone - she said yes the stone did it. So there you are the stone did it!!
What do I do?
Cut her arms off? Tarmac the drive? Press charges against her? Press charges against the stone?
As for the car - it is a 7 Series BMW and I have had from new. I have tried every chemical under the sun and her work (sorry the stones) now shines like a beacon - great! Man this is gonna cost me!!

great stuff eh! I was called out one day to find my 7 year old son and his friend washing my 5 series BMW with a sweeping brush dipped in a muddy puddle, oh the joys of parenthood.

I thought rule #1 of parenting was "Don't have anything nice" stories like that make me reconsider having a second child

Make sure you get a picture so you can show it to her later when she will better understand what she has done... say at her high school graduation or her wedding.

Makes my story of the day seem tame!
I'm putting a fuel pump in my neighbor's dodge intrepid. laying on my back and reach over for a socket. No socket? what the..... I sit up, look around, scratch my head for a good 10-15mins. What, where are the bolts? Now I'm sitting on the ground , car jacked up on stands, eye level with the exhaust pipe. Yep, you got it - That's where my missing sockets and bolts are! My 2 yr old was helping me fix the car. So here I am fishing them out with a magnet. Amazingly enough, I got them all.
Kids.
(BTW meguires scratch-x worked miracles on my tank when my same kid scratched it with his jacket zipper after climbing on it)

Oh that's good stuff Roundy77, Meguiar's Scratch X and a proper Meguiar's buffing pad attached to a drill that's limited to 600 rpm.

Car straight down the scrap yard and child on ebay no question!!
More to come from that little one I fear - thing is I felt bad when I pointed it out to her. Didn't have to tell her off - she burst into tears. Can't win whichever way you look at it!

Back in the 70's, a mate of mine owned the most pristine Kawaka 900, it was his pride & joy, he came home one afternoon to find his 5yo. son & the kid next door covered in purple paint & silverfrost paint, when he inquired as to how they got that way, they quite proudly told him that they had painted his bike, there was not a bit of original paint and chrome showing even the tyres, spokes & seat were painted. He rang me up to come over & have a look, we sat down & stared at the mess for bout 20mins. than got drunk, nothing we could do the paint was almost dry, the shed & all his tools got a coat of paint too. We stripped down the bike cleaned it up - took us bout 3 weeks, now his son (the painter) owns the bike.

No, it's you can't have nice things! BIG difference.

If it happened in your driveway I'd try to get it covered by homeowner's - I know if your car is broken into on your property homeowner's covers the damages.

That's just plain mean
Unless, of course, you write "Daddy loves his little princess..." complete with hearts...

Too bad her name isn't Bonnie. You could just clearcoat over it and wear your Triumph badge even in your cage. Oh yeah, definately take a picture and remember: the things you can fix in life are never as bad as the things you can't. Gotta love those little sh***.

Ouch... Definately a picture to be shared on her wedding day.. One day I'm going to find the guy named Somebody and let him have it, because my kids never did anything like that, it was always "Somebody did it.."
