Well the dogs ate the cake while we out bike shopping. We rode the BA to look at a few bikes and she fell in love with a 06 Suzuki S40 / Savage. Sweet little bike, one I'd love to bob it, but it's hers. $3000 included 2 flip face Fulmer helmets. I'm so glad she has the love for bikes as I do and wants her own ride. She did pretty good today, for the first time out. We did a few laps around the neighborhood. We need a day of lot riding to get the comfort level up to deal with cagers. She's done the MSC, now we just have to get the confidence level up.

Great choice!
I put 12,000 miles on one of those bikes (2005) the year before I bought my America. Great commuter, great run-around and excellent starter bike. Engine like a big old lawnmower engine. 650 Thumper gets you off the line quick and has just enough umph at the top end to keep up with traffic.

Nice birthday present there George!
I hope my missus don't see this thread as I won't now be able to ever get by wth a birthday card and some cheapy perfume from Tesco's.
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Great Choice! A friend we ride with has one. They are fast enough and he very simply never breaks down on it.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Thanks folks!! She picked the bike out. I 'm glad to hear that it's as solid as it appears. I test rode it, and yes it's got plenty of power. I just can't wait until she gets comfortable enough to start winding out the gears a little bit. When she feels the vibration on the 650, she'll never complain about the BA pillion again. LOL!!!

This site used to be a great resource for info about the bikes www.suzukisavage.comLooks like the format has changed since I was a member there, but also looks like some of the same, very helpful folks are still around.

Yep, put my bride on a zuki GZ 250 this year-there were none of the 650's left! She's doing great-got well over 500 miles now-and ready to step up. Looks like another Bonnie is coming my way!
