This cracked me up when I saw it. It is the ultimate posuer biker accessory.... It is on page 9 of this catalog

Quote:

This custom designed simulated kick starter kit gives you those great looks of a vintage, kick-starter operated bike, but when operated it will engage your electric starter by means of a hidden electric switch. Consequently this kick starter kit gives you that Old School look and feeling without the effort of old style kick starters. Another great advantage is that the cover features a hydraulic clutch release mechanism. Hydraulic operation of the clutch is much easier than cable operated. The kit is very easy to install and comes beautifully chrome plated. It is CNC made from 6061-T6 aluminum and includes kick starter arm and pedal as shown in the picture. A hydraulic handlebar master cylinder and hydraulic line must be ordered separately. Kit fits all left side drive 5 and 6 speed Big Twin transmissions from 1986 to present, except 2006 to present Dyna and 2007 to present Softail and FLH/FLT series models.

and just the other night I saw an old pan-head with the kick start removed and a big ol' battery in its place

Oddly enough, the '06 - up Dyna and '07 - up ST and FLH/FLT that it won't fit are all the HD 6 speeds that it will fit. Are those guys into politics?

Too bad all they do is Vtwin stuff.....
They could make a few happy here - a fake kick starter and then some bolt-on fins for an upcoming model....

Brent? Eddy? Are you listening?

I'm holding out for the fake points system. Or better yet, the real system!

Droll, Stew. VERY droll.

BUT I admit, also very funny!

(..."that" bike still needs fins though, ya know)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I don't understand why Triumph does not have both. I have seen times when that little back up would really help. Give me a real kick starter... That would be real retro!

So do you thumb the starter button the same time you give it a fake kick?

I actually kind of like this idea, if I owned a HD - which I DON'T.
