Shane Hackbart , 14 , died today as a result of massive HEAD trauma after he was hit by a Ford Expedition . Have known him since he was a little kid , he had NO helmet or safety gear as he was riding around on a Moped thing of sorts . Had he worn a lid , he'd still be here . He was Gail's only child .  They're cheap enough , wear the thing .

I am sorry to hear that.
Who is Gail? Who let him ride on the streets, let alone without gear? Don't you have to be 15 to moped in Ga.?

Gail was his mom , Shane always went his own way , as a kid he would always be wandering everywhere , kinda prophetic for his early demise . Come to find out it was a 70 cc dirt bike . He ran across a road and an SUV won .

My deepest sympathies to Gail and her family. May we remember Shane and set the example for others like him when we ride - no matter the size of the ride, kids follow the example we set for them.
