I am considering a 200 rear tire swap on my speedy. I have located a 2000 Legend rear wheel. Fryguy used a Tbird wheel, they both look alike but carry different Triumph part numbers. Does anyone know the difference or if a Legend wheel will bolt up? Tommy

I have had a legend 2000-I think the rear wheel is the same- but CHECK with your local dealer!

Tommy just looking at your pics and noticed the rear brake resevoir in the pic.....what year is Speedy? have you had the recall done? ? ? it is a bracket to lift the resevoir about 40mm to stop airlocks if it should fall over onto RHS. If it has been done pardon my enquiry but it is a free safety issue.. Maybe just a funny angle on pic. Cheers Mike

Tommy, can you take a pic of the legend wheel? I am almost 100% sure that the legend wheel is the same as the T-bird and BA. The BA rear wheel is a 15" and has a 32 spoked hub the TBIRD wheel is 16 inch and a 40 spoke hub. How many spokes the legend have? What is the part number?

I would imagine at least the hub would be the same, and that's what counts, right? And since the Legend and Tbird shave a frame...

I'll try to get a pic tomorrow. I'm sure it's a 40 spoke. Paul ,Is your Excel a nondimpled aluminium? Buchanan Spoke says they won't chrome the aluminium rims. Did you have yours chromed or polished? Tommy

Thats what I want to check. The hub should be the same as the legend a la BA. The tBird has the chain drive on the left side and I think the Legend has it on the right(or is it the other way around?) This maybe the cause for different part numbers. If I see a pic of the Legend hub then we should be able to tell 100%. My excel rim is a non-dimpled polished aluminum rim. I think Buchanan sells them for $350. You tell them what hub you are using and they drill the holes for you.

I did some research on the Legend and Legend TT. Beautiful bikes. I love the triple engine. Gobs of touque. I wouldn't mind picking up a used Legend/Adventurer/TBIRD for fun and games.
It seems the Legend uses a 17 rear wheel just like a t-bird sport. The standard t-bird uses a 16 inch wheel. The legend has the chain drive on the left. The front and back wheels look identical. I would say with enough certainty that the Legend wheel will work.
Tommy, let me know if you find out the front wheel is available as well. Thanks Bro

Well since the T-bird, and I assume LEgend, FRONT wheel fits the BA, I'm gonna guess the rear would too. Makes sense anyway, you'd think Triumph would try to re-use parts if they can.

I picked up the Legend wheel today. I'm sure it's the same as a BA. I'm going to send it and the front to buchanan to drill new hoops and then send them to the Chrome shop. I am concerned about the chrome cracking around the spoke holes though. Paul- They sold the front legend wheel. I'll keep looking for you Tommy

Mike -I'll move it before next riding season. Thanks for your concern. Benny I got your front wheel. Now I have to decide to make it a 19" or 21" also considering red powder coat instead of chrome wheels. I'm open to everyones opinions. I'm going for a modern bobber look. It will look completely different than it looks now. Tommy

Love the chilli pepper theme! Did you get the resevoir cover from Brent? The red would certainly set off that theme nicely, but then again keeping it chrome would make those accents all the more subtle. Hmmmm , decisions decisions!

Benny- The Brentmaster did the resevoir lid. What do you think 19" or 21"? I don't want the chopper look, but if I lower the front end,it should take away some of the rake. Tommy

I personally would go with the 21 inch. You'll really have to lower the front end for that though. If you go with the 19" front then you could get away with the progressive lowering 2" kit.

21 is more chopper than 19 I think... the 19 would keep it more in line with the bobber from what I can remember, were'nt they usually fairly fat front tire? The Brenstster does good work doesn't he!

The recall is for both, just up to a certain year/vin number. Never did mine either... Should probly do it!

Benny - Some of the Bobbers had fat front tires. But because these Excell rims have to be custom drilled, the selection is limited to 21"x2.15 or 19"x2.50. So a fat front tire is not an option. Tommy

Well.... the 19 would be a little more subdued... less outragous than the 21, less harley/chopper, ya know? That would probably be my choice.

I see where you are coming with that Benny. The way I look at it is the stock wheel is already 18 inches. You're gonna pay a lot of money just to go 1 inch taller. Might as well go the whole 21 inch front.

I've been debating both of your thoughts for a few weeks. I don't think I want the front tire to be that much larger diameter than the rear. I'm not sure it will look right.
We placed a T 100 and an America front wheel to wheel in the show room yesterday and there is a noticeable difference.

I am with you on that. No matter what size you choose, I think it'll definitely be a cool custom look.

Paul - Did you get Buchanan to polish your wheel before they assembled it? How good does it look as compared to chrome? Tommy
