Even after removing a pinch in my vent line, I'm still gettting a vacuum condition and the bike will cut out. After I drove it last night, although it did not cut out, I got a significant pressure release when I opened the cap. I guess I could just remove the tip over valve but I'm thinking about getting a vented gas cap instead. Can anyone tell me where I can get one for an '04 America?

Thanks

Mark,
I got one of the flush fit vented gas caps from Kuryokin (sp?). Looks good, fits, solves the paint 'scratching' on fill up and provides a tiny bit of security to your tank. Only trouble is I painted my chrome dash flat black to avoid the reflexion and now the gas cap reflects, guess I should have powder coated prior to install....

In the old days, we used to just drill a small hole through the gas cap. not large enough to be a real mostier problem, but enough to releive the pressure.

RH thread 83 and later Harley XL, FXR, Dyna, Softail , and Roadking vented caps have the correct thread. Just find one that fits those that will work with your dash and you are in!

Thanks to all for their reponses. I replaced the tip over valve with a hollow brass fitting, so far so good. I found that I could barely blow through it, so it apparently was plugged. If this does not work, the vented gas cap is next. Any suggestions on where to buy one?

I have found really good prices on the type of cap I posted on Ebay as well as a great selection. Local HD dealer is another option or any after market shop that works on HD type bikes and handles V Twin, Drag Specialties, etc. J&P Cycles is another option.
