This past August in Bahrain, it was about $0.75/gallon if I've got my conversions right. Nevertheless, it was dirt cheap compared to the Seattle area. And we have some big ol'refineries just a couple of hours north of us.

And I'd never ride a bike there, it's 95+F at 6AM this time of the year and the drivers (especially the Saudis) are crazy. Almost had a couple of wrecks, just driving a car, because those idiots think they can do whatever they want. No way, would I ride a bike. But I do have a cool Bahrain H-D tee shirt.

I'm told, from a Qatari acquaintance, that the price of gas in Dubai is comparable to the US.

And I still have the memory of my first trip to Saudi, about 18 years ago. We could not drive the car into the filling station. Instead an attendant would greet you at entrance and drive the car to the pump for you. He would then remove the gas cap and use his lighter to check the tank level!!
