I have just heard that my Speedmaster workshop manual has just cleared customs, and now it’s Friday so this means I will only have it by next week. It’s going to be a long weekend by the looks of things. I almost wish they had not told me this.

I guess I shouldn't mention then that I picked up a workshop manual along with a couple of thousand dollars worth of brand new america bits on ebay for a couple of hundred bucks then?  Matt

customs can be a pain, they grabbed my Thunderbike pipes and it took me 2 weeks to get them out.

OK, where is the best place to obtain a Manual, Local dealer here in Brisbane quoted something like a couple of hundred dollars , I,m sure ex US would be my best bet.

The Triumph shop manual for the America/Speedmaster/Bonneville/Thruxton cost $80. from any Triumph dealer in U.S. Not sure what it would cost to get it to you. I just got one and it's well worth the money. Don't know about exchange rate over there, but $200. would seem too steep. The U.S. has to import from England as well.

Don-- Mine was only about $50 or so (U.S.)plus tax from the dealer. A local RAT guy may have one for sale. If he still has it, I'll let you know. Also what year? The '05 is different.

That may be so, but you can still get them cheaper than we can - my dealer (40 miles from the factory) will sell me one for the princely sum of £65.00, which is about $110 after taxes ($95 before) That 40 mile journey sure is expensive!

Lonzo (or anyone else), how is the '05 different, ie, how do I know I have the right manual? The one I just got from my dealer was printed in 2004: Part No. T8359909-01 Issue 4, 10.2004. Is this current for my 05 TA?

It's the same one I got, same date and everything. My '05 TA was manufactured in Nov.'04. My book is a 3-ring binder, the others I've seen are paperback bound. I just noticed that mine has both 790 and 865 speedmaster specs.

That's the same one I have. The loose pages made scanning the entire document and converting it to Adobe soft-copy a lot easier.

If there is a Speedmaster 865 engine listed in the spec's section with valve timing like an 1870's steam engine, you have the latest stuff.

Thanks for the replys. I had gotten confused with all the discussion about a newer manual for the 05s. Mine apparently is the newer manual and is in a binder with both the 790 and 865 specs although printed in 04.

Well my workshop manual has arrived and it was well worth the wait. I am more than satisfied with it. It gives a great step by step account on how to do things. It covers the Bonneville, Bonneville T100, America, Speedmaster and the Thruxton. The Part Number is T38599909-01 issue 4, 10.2004. I have scanned the full Specifications for the 865 T100 and Speedmaster and placed them in my photo album or you can just click on this link. Specifications

Have a look at my photo album listed below I have placed the full specs there. I don’t however see any about valve timing.

Break it to me gently, how long did this take you and how did you break it up. I am looking at my one now and I know I have to do this. What I think I might do is scan it into a file per section. Boy this is going to be a lot of work but the only way to have it.

I started the process with a Lexmark all in one X75. This got old pretty quick as I had to scan one sheet at a time. It was much like doing squats (up-down up-down, you get the idea). My Lexmark went south during chapter 3 I think, so I bought a Canon MP780 sheet feed model. I was able to feed about 10 sheets at a time and the whole process sped up considerably. The only drawback was several sheets are a little crooked.
I was in no real hurry to scan, so I drug the whole process out over a couple of months. I had to scan the electrical diagrams on my work scanner (Xerox model), because they were so large. Also, the coloring did not come out on these as the scans are in .tif format, but it's nice to have everything on a single scan.
I'm extensively book marking the document in Adobe and created hyperlinks througout the manual. I still have to bookmark/hyperlink the last two sections.
I have part number T3859909-01 Issue 4, 10.2004
I've done this for personal use and I'm trying to honor "my interpretation" of the copyrighting. If you email me a scan of the page containing the part number, so I feel good about you actually owning the document, you can have a soft-copy. Keep in mind it's about 100MBs in size, so there may be some difficulty getting the document to you. But, I think I can work something out.

Digging this thread up from the past. This would be great for those of us that already own a manual. I'd love to have mine in a PDF file I can view on my computer. Did you guys ever get together and sort this out so we can have access to the manual?
