Fear is the mind killer. There's nothing wrong with mixing tires. I've done it for many years with no problems. That's something manufacturers say to keep you buying their tires. Maybe if you're roadracing, and need everything perfect to get that last tenth of a second, but in the real world, it's nothing.

They say it's because the profiles of the tires are matched.
But.
You've bought your matched tires, and after x amount of miles, the rear is worn out. So you buy a new tire, same brand and model.
Gotta match the profile, right?
Problem!
The front is now half worn out. It doesn't have the same profile anymore. How can it match the rear?
Should you replace both tires at once, then? Even if the front is still serviceable?
Do the manufacturers say to do that?
No they don't. Because it's not that critical.
Racers and track-day riders replace the tires as a set,
because it makes a difference in that extreme situation.
For the rest of us, as long as it's a new tire, proper size, mounted and balanced right, don't worry about it.
