I am about to relcate my front turn signals. What is the best recomended method regarding the wiring? Should I cut the sheath off of the wiring harness or should cut the wiring at the singal, pull it through, then resolder?

I am away from my bike right now, is it easy to figure out which wires to pull through the harness if this is possible?

I cut the connectors of mine at the indicators and tried to pull them through into the headlight shell connector, I think the RH pulled through but the LH side one of the wires joins to a wire from/to the switch a couple of inches down the sheath so had to disconnect it at the shell connector and pull it up, disconnect resolder and then reconect in the shell end. hope that makes sense.

Unplug the lights at the sockets inside the switch housings. Cut the connectors off the lights leaving about an inch of wire (in case you want to put it back to standard later - alternativley just buy some new attractive lights). Open the headlight bucket and locate the turn signal wires running through the bucket, then use "scotchlock" connectors to splice into the wires, using some new lengths of appropriate gauge wire to run the lights to where you want them. That leaves the bike as standard as possible so you can put it back to original simply by soldering the original connectors back onto the lights and plugging them back in. This also means that you can use the original wire to connect some bar-end turn signals at a later date if you like.

I wish I had asked here before doing this job myself. I just carefully sliced open the wire sheath and then relocated the wires, then wrapped the the wire sheath back together with electrical tape. Looks pretty hack.

When I did Wendys bike I left the plugs in the switch housings and spliced the signals into the wires in the headlight bucket. I did that so I could easily put it back to stock if I wanted.

I took an old auto bulb and soldered a wire to the side of it and one to the center + part and made an instant test light. Then I opened the bucket , turned on the indiwinker I was working on and started to probe until I found the wire I wanted.(the one that made the test bulb flash and turned off when the switch was turned off) I made sure it was connected and routed so I could still unplug things for disassembly if needed.

Thanks for the info. I am probably going to splice into the headlight bucket. Does anyone know what gauge wire the turn signals use?
