Today I am the proud owner of a 2008 Black Tiger. So far love the bike. Still have the TBA but traded off the Honda ST1300. The wife doesn't ride with me anymore and the thing was just not as good around town. The Tiger is more nimble than I remembered. It also is well suited to the morning commute. The break in is going to tax my sensabilities until I can open her up. Thanks to all those who weighed in on my many questions about the Tiger, it made the decision all the more easy to make.

Nice purchase. Since getting my '07 Tiger 16 months ago, I ride more then ever! Very enjoyable. Still not sure why I now ride so much more, I liked my TBA...must be the riding position....or instant Acceleration.

Congradulations... I love my 2007 Tiger (Black Beauty). I still really enjoy my America, but the Tiger takes riding to a whole new level, which is hard to explain. I am just glad I got the America first. Definitely checkout http://www.tiger1050.comTom

Congrats on the Tiger!
Love mine. Just keep an eye on the oil.
And yes, check out tiger1050.com
Some may advise to break the Tiger in a little harder than listed on the tank stickers. The topic is well covered at the Tiger site.

I put 7000 miles on my Tiger this year-It took me 4 years to put that on My TBA! Definetely run the bike up often to the "Max" rpm according to the break in. Check the oil often. I just installed the TOR pipe(got a brand new one on e-bay, cheap). Tommorrow I'm off to the dealer(Branchville-I know! I know!-but he's close by-I'll keep an eye on him!) to get the tune downloaded. Enjoy!

While riding my America on the interstate, I'm constantly "holding" my feet on the floorboards and squeezing my knees against the tank because of wind buffeting. Do you have that problem with the Tiger? The Tiger, Sprint and BMW 1200R is on the short list of bike number two.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

It's funny you should mention that as it was something I noticed right away. My knees rest comfortably against the the bike without having to hold them there. Take a road test-best way to know if it's right for you.

No problem keeping the feet planted because of the mid pegs. I know what you are talking about, at above 70mph the wind wants to move your legs backwards and can get tiring. I have had the bike for about 2 weeks and I am enjoying it. I think the TBA is getting lonely. Still love the TBA. Going to hang on to both as long as I can. Questions: What's up with breaking it in harder than "normal" and What's up with the oil usage?

Go by the tank sticker but run it up to the rev limit it shows for each break in period. You need to seat those rings!

I have to add my name to the list. Just traded my '07 Speedmaster for an '08 Tiger ABS, for all the reasons typically mentioned. However, I agree with "The King of Fleece", the looks are definitely an acquired taste.

I can speak for the Sprint. No!

You can run the rpms above what the sticker on the tank says, just do not maintain the rpms above what is recommended. During the first couple hundred miles I didn't stay at the same rpm for more than a minute, and went over what the tank specified periodically, but only briefly.
The oil usage appears to be a problem with early 2007 engines, which were installed mostly in the Tiger (The Sprint and Speed Triple have the same engine). Second half 2007 and all of 2008 Tigers don't appear to have the problem.

My commute is 107 miles/day and I was wondering about the one riding position. Even though my legs get tired on the America's floorboards, I can actually change position by hooking my bootheel on the passenger pegs. Can this be done with the Tiger?
I wish the America had mid pegs and hwy pegs.

You'll do 107 miles with ease on the Tiger. The fairing blocks the wind off your chest keeping you from having to push back and hold on. It's a completely different riding position. 3-4 hour rides are attainable for me while after 45 minutes on my America, I had to make a stop. Road test-that's the only way to see the way!

My Tiger, drinks a little oil. Picked the beast up in April of '07.
Besides that, an amazing bike.

Ive have a 2001 Tiger, and think it one of the best motorcycles on the planet. Lots of power, VERY comfortable, great in town and on the Hwy. The only thing I dont like is that the seat is a little high. I am thinking about an America/Speedmaster as a next bike. Id love to test ride one. Maybe someone in California would like to test out a Tiger?

Question. Who here has ABS(I don't). If you don't, why not? I didn't get it only out of economics as my dealer was having a blowout of '07's and I got mine for $9000. I regret not getting ABS now and am considering selling the bike and buying one with it.

You can lower a Tiger at least 3 inches-the 07's and up five inches. AS for ABS, about half the riders we see don't want it for whatever reason.

Can't help you on the ABS question but sounds like a good reason to trade up to the new 2009 two-tone matte-grey-and-black paint scheme!!!

I've got the ABS model...in the super fast Scorched Yellow.
I figured it was worth the extra $$$...and it's not really an off-road bike, so no need to worry about off or not having ABS while in the dirt/sand/gravel.
