Pull the choke out or open the throttle, & #2 fires.
No throttle, no choke, it dies.
Sounds like the pilot circuit, right?
The right fix is probably to pull the carbs & go through both of them.
I'm looking for a band aid.
I'm thinking of pulling the jet and needle valve and cleaning them.
Also of blowing air through the circuit from both directions.

Do we think that's worth a shot?

Mines doing the same thing. I changed plugs, nothing. I ordered nology coils from Brent because I was going to do this anyway. The correct way would be for me to check if I had spark? I pretty sure it getting fuel because I can smell it. I should be getting the coils today. So I will see.

Are you saying that the bike is only running on 1 cylinder? If so, check to see if there is spark on the supposed misfiring cylinder before you pull the carbs. If there is no spark the coil or wiring could be defective, switch the coils to see if the problem follows the coil. If you have spark on both cylinders, then attack the carbs.

Mine quit on my right cylinder. I suspected an ignitor. Eventually the dealer replaced both coils and the ignitor. Never did it again.

At first it did it only occasionally, usually after running steady for 20 or more miles. If it gets to be often, you can try swapping the left and right coils. If the problem moves, it's the coil. If the same cylinder cuts out, it's likely the ignitor. I'd try all the other obvious stuff first.

I've been through the CDI thing, but this is different.
It responds to throttle and choke position.
Re: coils, I have a steady spark, but rather weak, IMO.
I had to put the garage door down and turn the lights off to see it clearly.
I think they could be at fault for a miss I've been having at speed, but not for the current major problem at hand.

Changed the coils out with Nology, nothin. I will have to investigate further this weekend.
