Thats the "geezer alert". It picks up and alerts you to other geezers in the area if you don't feel that conversational today. (Like when the wife is rolling her eyes at you again)

Brad, that would be a MIL or a Malfunction Indicator Lamp. It turns on when a trouble code is set in the engine computer. I am guessing that unless he got a Canadian import, Triumph just used the same speedo on all of their America/Speedmasters even if they are still have carbs. I think it's funny that the symbol they use is an automotive engine. Probably a law somewhere that says it has to be the same for all motor vehicles.

Malfunction Indicator LampDoh! Yeah, that makes sense The one thing I miss on my '04 speedy is a fuel gauge, but even a low fuel indicator is better than nothing. I'm guessing that it's not a retrofit option without replacing the tank. Can anyone tell me year they started putting these things on our bikes and if it might be possible to fit it up? Cheers, Brad

@ birchr : i have absolutely no idea of what to do with that diagram, lol
@ moe: i'd consider it, if i hadn't already paid for them, and the installation. of course, when i ordered the bike, 'the pipes will be on it when you get it'. when i get the bike, 'we will put them on at first service'. when they called me yesterday to confirm my service appointment, i asked about the pipes and "ummmm, yeah, we haven't gotten them yet"
it isn't their fault, but i'm stil bothered that i've been getting the run around. honestly would have been appreciated.

i have absolutely no idea of what to do with that diagram That was most likely for me, given that I had asked what it would take to get the low fuel indicator.. but since it appears that I would have to get one of them new design tanks to make it work, I think I'll keep my speedy just the way it is now.. Cheers, Brad
