Has anyone had problems with the gas cap on the America not wanting to thread properly after fueling? Spent the better part of 10 minutes trying to put the cap back on the tank after fueling, this has occured one time before. The threads look ok.

Had problems trying to undo the original cap, but never a problem putting it back on. Ended up buying one from Brent..

I have had problems putting the gas cap back on, but since I bought my speedy used I figured it was something that the previous owner had done to it. It never took me 10 min. though, just long enough to get annoyed. I have thought of replacing it with an aftermarket one in the near future

Dennis, you didn't say what year your bike is. I heard that the later models have tighter threading. That's why the flush mount cap (made for HDs) that Brent sells doesn't fit the newer bikes. If yours is older than 06, I would put the flush mount one on. I love mine and the added benefit is that it vented - the stock one is not.

I didn't have a problem with the 06.......but I think the stealer did - as I took it in for something completely different, but got a new fuel cap.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

I am having this problem on a used Thunderbird I recently bought....I currently can't get the cap on more than about one turn before it starts clicking...I believe it may be binding on some loosening paint in the neck....not sure yet.
