Like I said before, I understand that bars have rules, dress codes, whatever...if I dont like it then I can leave. But dont you think that a slightly crooked hat is a bit overboard? I coulda turned my head and bumped into my buddy and just not known it was a little crooked for all this lady knew. It was also the way she talked to me about it. It wasnt exactly explaining the rules of her establishment. The tone was "obey me, i am the owner" and Im sorry but theres plenty of bars around the corner that will let me blow my money with a crooked hat. If my brother in law told me to be cool I would of respected his wish, but he was a bit madder than me about it, and was ready to leave. Thats why I decided to obey the rules and just not drink anymore. But of course I had to let her know that...haha I understand my consequences completely, I didnt expect to "win" that night. Does that make it not worth the effort?
Honestly Im a pretty easy going guy, theres a couple on here that can vouch for that. But the way I was raised was to stand up for what I believe in. I dont have to take "orders" from anyone except my boss and law enforcement. Show me a sign that says no crooked hats and I'll conform. Stop me at the door and tell me I cant get in with a hat like that, and I'll straighten it. But dont expect me to obey your selective drill sergeant demands. Im the one paying YOU money.
As far as the gentleman not wearing a hat thing, Im sure thats dead and gone. Of course Im not a gentleman so I wouldnt know. Maybe in a high scale drinking facility, but sports bars arent too strict on beer drinking football fans and their home team sports memorabilla.
And the mom and pop bars are still around. Im pretty sure I was talking to the owner and not one of the cronies. I like those type of bars honestly. Rules like keeping cigarettes off the pool table and not spitting on the floor make sense. Rules like "no people with purple hair" are just discrimination.
