Okay its my future brother in laws bachlor party, we got 8 dudes all together and we're in this local Irish bar, and Im on my 2nd "bought" beer (had a few before we left) Anyway this short old lady comes up to me and says "do you mind turning your hat straight"? and I just laugh it off and think shes kidding, and shes like "Im the owner of this bar, everyone IS THE SAME here, we ALL wear our hats the same way and if you dont like it you can leave"
Now about my hat positioning....Im not walking in there like the fresh prince of bel air, I wear my hat between 12 and 1 oclock, just barely a little crook. Im not a hipster or anything its just how some people wear the hat. In fact we had another guy with us who had his hat crooked too, but he turned his straight right away because all the guys there were saying "dont ruin the night dude, this is Jeffs night just listen to her"
I dont know these other 6 guys and its the first time I met them so after slowly resisting I asked her if I could wear it backwards, she said yes, so then I really thought she was full of crap, so I told her Ill take my hat off then. She says thats fine and walks away, while my brother in law starts to get mad about it, and debating on whether to leave or not.
Now fellas, Im smarter than just breaking a bottle over the lady's head. I politely put my hat back on (maybe 12.25 oclock) and waited till she came by again and got her attention. I say "excuse me mam, now that my hats completely straight I thought you'd like to know that I stopped buying beers and Im not drinking anymore."...haha Just my way of non-violent protest. She asks me why I have such a hard time with it. I told her that I live in America and I have the right to wear my hat how I like it, and asked her if she was russian and told her she was a communist..haha...Then I told her my shoelace was untied and I was wondering if there was a rule against that. She told me I was out of there in 10 minutes.
So 5 minutes later the bartender asks if I want another beer and I wave him off and he says that his boss is making him ask and that ill have to leave. And I said thats fine, your boss is gonna get 8 people on a binge drinking bachlor party kicked out of there as well. And then the bouncer came and asked me to leave..haha
Now I wasnt trying to ruin everyones night, I woulda left by myself but my brother in law was ****** bent on leaving. And we had 4 guys outside and another 4 still inside finishing their drinks. The other 4 come out and give me a hard time "why didnt you just turn your hat straight, bars have dress codes, etc"...bunch of pusies or something. I told them they didnt have to leave and Jeff was the one making that decision.
Im all good with dress codes, if a bar owner dont want you wearing sandles, or a man bikini top, thats fine..and hes got the right to turn me down at the door. But a slightly crooked hat is crap. No signs, the guy let me in with it, it was just the owners way of displaying her authority for no reason and she missed out on a decent amount of cash. Bottled beer was $4 and everyone was drinking shots. We had $80 in there in 10 minutes.
