The thing is, they are looking at the very teensy picture and are only concerned with how they are being inconvenienced today. The long term hope is that we can get a couple of countries moved into at least the 19th century and they will become places where Shiits, Sunnis, Kurds and whoever else can safely work together without killing each other on sight. If that can happen, it is likely to rub off on their neighbors. Once the various Islamic sects can get along with each other, they are more likely to be able to get along with other people as well and that will be the end of their terrorism.
Why anyone would want to put their personal convenience ahead of that is beyond me. But then, maybe because of growing up during a major war and having to do without a lot because of rationing I missed out on the lessons on petty selfishness.
