Just want to mention that regular RTV like the type sold in home improvement stores causes copper and other metals to corrode, due to the acetic acid. Dow Corning 3140 RTV has no acid (thus, no smell) and is safe for all metals. The downside is, like most RTV formulations, it cures in the tube within a year or two, even if it hasn't been opened. It's also expensive.
