Roadwasher,

If you go for the Triumph bags this is what the brackets that come with them look like:

Yes I have a Speedmaster but I will be installing the single seat combination once they arrive. That is the Gunfighter and touring pillion pad. So it should just require loosening the fixing screw at the back of the pillion pad lifting it off and taken off the bags. The brackets don’t look bad at all by themselves.

RW,

Why do you suppose the Cop really pulled over that biker in your gallery? Do you think he was thinking, "Man I really hate to do it, but it's about saftey?" "I hate my job, I hate my job!"

Gina -
Could you provide the dimensions of those Triumph standard panniers? I'm still liking the "look" they present - keeping the slim profile of the machine...

No, those are not big enough for my tastes, but I need a reference point. I'm not so sure I want 6.5" deep on either side, but would rather like something taller, and slimmer. (Just like a man, I know ). Are they more than 3" deep? They don't look to be...

How tall? How wide across the top?

Thanks

I still think the K-Drives are great, but I've decided to sell them since I just don't use them at all.

See the Classified section for details, and a great deal!

So far, I am really happy with my Daytona Chubby Classic Bags from Leatherneck Jim's. V-Leather set at $329.00, including the EZ brackets.

No they're not big, but if I can put a females worth of stuff in for a 4 day excursion....you lot must carry more than me!!!

Gina

Gina, I bet you don't pack any rain gear for those 4 days jaunts! When I traveled with the triumph purses, 75% of their capacity was used for rain gear. Riding with my wife, makes for two sets of rain gear. I could see using one saddlebag for rain gear in your case, with a bit of room on top for an odd item or two. Yet riding solo, the saddlebags can be small, as the pillion area can accommodate any size duffel bag or such. No need for a sissy bar or luggage rack.

What I could do to overcome the fact that they are not really removable is to get two canvas bags to put into them.

Patrick, with a thumb screw that Brent sells, the pillion is quite easily removed and the saddlebags too. With a yoke, ya can toss the saddlebags over your shoulder and carry in the pillion pad as well. (Just be sure to say Howdy Folks, when entering the lobby!)
Another thing to consider is, do you really want to leave your saddle bags outside the hotel room? When I had the purses on Vera, I could off load her purses and pillion pad in less than three minutes.

If you ever buy a corbin pillion pad, forget about throwover saddlebags. Not enough room under Corbin's pad for the saddlebag's yoke. And forget about the thumb screw, again not enough clearance for it either.

I have been considering this and I am defiantly going for these with an extra bag on the back if needed they would be just right for me. Also for town odds and ends they are all I need. Now the thing is they will have to wait for next year as I am waiting for my new seats and workshop manual that should arrive any day now.

If you like the look of the Triumph bags but don't care for the small size take a look at their bags for the Rocket. Set them up w/EZ brackets and you would be good to go...

These are not Saddlebags but I rather like the design. Does anyone here here have any experience with this type of luggage?

Here are some saddlebags I found browing through a catalog at Daddy's. Appear to be about the same size, if not a tad smaller than some. Surprised to see that, considering the intended mount. Quite durable, I'm sure.

I didn't like the Triumph ones. They were too small and too expensive. I fitted a stock paanier rack of the shelf from the local shop. ( Ihad to bend them a little bit.) I bought a pair of Dririder(Australian made) panniers. They are expandable and I modified them to be throw over bags as I didn't want to fit the straps to the bike permanently. To me if you can't fit a helmet in the pannier then it is no good. These ones hold stacks of gear and there is a water bottle holder on the front of each. I just slip a cold drink in and reach down when I want.

I'm still very pleased with the BB hardbags after a year of daily use. No problems at all.
