riding to GA two years ago (1300 miles each way)John (big poppy) and I had the same issue...due to the extended time of riding (22 1/2 hours the first day) the "ice pick" took almost 1 year to remove from my left shoulder...John has changed the risers (I'm still looking for the right pair) and has had no further issues...but it is definitely ride position related!
