Well, I have officially joined the ranks myself. Finally. I picked up my 2009 Phantom Black Bonneville America today. I have been dying to pick it up since I dropped a couple hundred bucks a month ago for the order. Unfortunately, I didn't get the interest rate I wanted, because I have always paid cash in the past (ZERO history of installment loans is worse than crappy history), but I wanted to get the bike now, rather than pay cash up front in a few months. Thankfully, I am hoping to pay the thing off by shortly after January, which means that the amount of cash that they think they're going to get is soooo much less that the amount they will get. However, I believe that it is worth it. The bike fits me perfect (which was hard to find, as I am 6'4", 235, and a pretty long inseam), and is a pleasure to ride. I have also already dropped it, lol. Hadn't even gotten on it. Basically I took it off the stand there on the showroom floor, getting ready to push it out, and it went a little farther away from me than I had planned (I was standing on the stand side, and it went straight over to the right side). Talk about embarrassing. Now, to get a lot of practice in, on those slower maneuvers, and to try and recall my MSF material and practice those.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Welcome aboard Tim. You purchased a 2009? Did not realise those were availible in the states. I need to get by my deal more often Surprised to here they let you move the bike from the showroom floor. Seems they would still be liable for any damage inside the building. Anyhoo, welcome to the board. Mike

in response to both... dwight: thanks for the hint! that's a great idea. mike: uh, yeah. right after it happened, that's when the manager said, "that's why i move them out". very humbling experience. hopefully with dwight's suggestion, it won't happen again

Congratulations... there are few days better than bike pick-up day. In fact, all those I can think of have involved picking up a wife from a church or a new kid from the hospital and those turn out to be a LOT more expensive even when compared to aftermarket bike stuff.

Tim, don't feel so bad. I did almost the exact same thing. The only difference was I dropped mine pusing it into the garage after picking it up at the dealer.
