Personally I am a way bigger fan of Peggy Noonan (Ronald Reagan's speechwriter). The "Boys of Pointe du Hoc" speech, given at Normandy for the 40th anniversary of D-Day was brilliant.
RR was probably the last time I was really impressed with a presidential speech...it's all gone to sound bites now. And my favorite line will always be the one about the most terrifying thing you can hear is "I'm from the government and I'm here to help" (RR) Consider how our politicians speeches have declined in quality over the years...I'm betting most of you can remember at least the first sentence of FDR's radio address on 7 Dec 1941, but who can remember even one line from GWB's speech on 11 Sep 2001?
Yep Sarge! I guess the phrase, "those Evil-doer" just doesn't quite have the same ring to it as "A day which will live in infamy", does it???!!!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
