Does anyone make one? I miss not to be able to stand on the pegs when a major butt buster comes along unexpectedly. This seems to be the downside to forward pegs/controls.

Boogieman recently shut down his business but he might have a set left over. Other than that the closest thing seems to be these rear peg brackets from Brent: http://newspeedmaster.com/html/custom_peg_hangers.html

Here's the Boogieman thread: http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...ge=5#Post339948

I answered that classified when it posted, but he never replied. Do you have any idea who manufactured the kit? Was it his own design?

You could move the rear pegs to the lower hole that the peg hanger bolts to. Not quite a mid peg but closer than on the hanger.

Did you send him a PM? I believe the design was a collaboration between Boogieman and Dwight, but Boogieman was the manufacturer.

Yes. He had five of the center pegs listed. I had no idea what they had sold for in the past (new or used), so I asked how much he would sell a set for. Never heard back.

eddy, can you actually use those to stand on, in the event of the aforementioned 'butt buster'? i too would be interested in something that would at least temporarily allow me to support myself on my feet, rather than on my lumbar vertebrae. website says 'not for standing'

The description of those pegs says they're not for standing on. That's what I need them for.

Before I took them off i would just stand up on the rear pegs, but it requires flexibility and agility that you may not possess.

You can certainly stand on Boogieman's. They are rock solid. Couple of notes; they sit right on the heat shields on stock pipes or Triumph TORs. Mine have a spot there now. Also, conflicts with new style chrome sprocket covers. I'll have to grind part of the sprocket cover to make it work.

Man, there's always something. I think I might have a problem with that. I use exactly those pipes (stock and TORS). Replacements aren't cheap.

About the RIVCO pegs, Fast Eddy sent a PM to clarify. I now suspect the disclaimer in the catalog may have more to do with potential liability than real-world product performance. You didn't hear that from me (or Eddy) though.

Yep, Jack. about 4 or 5 years ago I designed and built a set of brackets out of 3/4 inch steel, which the rear of bolted into the bottom frame rails where you'd bolt the center-stand(not available from Triumph at the time, but now there's an aftermarket center-stand available)

They then rested upon the frame rails and extended forward where they kick up, and then I bolted a Kuriyakin foot peg out from there. The pegs allow you to put your feet directly under you, so as you said, you can stand up while riding around.

Boogieman asked to make and sell them, and I know he made about 10 sets of them, but only sold about half that many. And I remember just before he closed up shop for good a while back he stated he still had a few of them and was selling them at about half of his original price of about $300 or so, which seemed kind'a high in price, of course, but at $150 I thought was a pretty good deal.

Right after I made the initial set, I posted pictures of them around here and held up a tape measure to them in those pics so anybody who'd like to make a set could. But unfortuantely I can't seem find this old thread for you, that is if you would have been interested in making your own set.

I'd be very interested in making a set. We have a small machine shop here at work, and the machinist is a friend who rides his Sportster to work day in and day out, rain or shine. He loves bike projects. If you come across that info, I'd sure like to see it.

Seein' as how you have that machine shop setup and all, and sound interested in this(and can't seem to locate Boogieman, unfortunately), tell ya what Jack...give me a couple o' days and I'll remove one of those brackets from my bike and take some new pics of it(they're pretty much mirror-image copies of each other with a slight 45degree grind on opposite sides of each) while once again holding up a tape measure to it, and I'll download those pics into this thread for ya, and give ya a quick writeup about the process.

It only took me a few hours to make 'em, BTW.

I am going to try to fit the new style chrome sprocket cover this weekend. I think if I grind off the upper left corner of the right side of the bracket, the sprocket cover will go on. Was also thinking about grinding a place out of the bottom of the peg support to clear the heat shield. If it goes well, I'll post pics.

Here is anotehr option I found on my trip on Bedouins bike.

RIVCO Passenger footboards. I placed the footboards on abour a 50 degree angle (two o'clock position you can see in picture below, but they are folded up in this pciture)

This allowed me to comfortably place my feet on tehm and it was farther forward and more comfortable than the stock passenger pegs as the boards had the relocation arms as wll so it functionally did work as a dual option. The relocation arms allow for different placement and Kathy actually preferred teh placement when we set them up and she went for a ride, said it was more comfortable. We'll see what she has to say when they are finnished with their trip.

Anyway, it is another option.

Jack and Eddy...Here's the pics and the specs of the center peg brackets I promised....

(BTW...these were cut from 5/8in steel plate, not 3/4in as I misstated above)

This is the left-side bracket, but as I said above, the right-side is just a mirror-copy of the left one, except for the angle grind(shown below), which is required in order to keep it at a vertical angle and clear that thick area of frame once they're bolted onto the bike.

The dill holes are 1/2in, and the bolt size required in order to bolt the unit onto the bike is an SAE American 1/2in X 2 1/2in. (2 bolts, of course)

Have at it, my friends!!!

Many thanks for the great photos Dwight! I've saved the lot to my Triumph folder. This project is high on my list of priorities, and I'll be sure to post the results when it's done. I have now met my fall/winter project quota.

Dwight, for me, those brackets of yours are the bees knees.
But tell me, what did you do with your rear brake line where it would foul with the right hand bracket.

Another, simple option is a set of Triumph floorboards - I live on a Forest Service road, known hereabouts as "the road from ******." Floorboards enable me to get out of the saddle in time to miss the potholes, large rocks, etc. They are also good to stand on when I go through the mud bog the road is every spring.

Harry, I'm not sure how the brake lines are routed on the later model BAs and Speedies, but on my 2002 BA there's plenty of room for the bracket, as the brake line sits outside at a diagonal above the bottom frame rail and the bracket by about half an inch, and doesn't seem to interfere at all.

But, now that I recall, I think I did have to slightly bend the line out by that amount in order to fit the bracket when I first mounted them about 4 or 5 years ago.

And Ken, I used 5/8in steel 'cause I wanted those brackets to be as solid, non-flexible and sturdy as possible, and those babies ARE solid, non-flexible and sturdy, alright!

You probably could make 'em out of aluminum or a thinner piece of steel, but why chance it? Better over than under-engineered, right?!

Remember, you're putting stress on the area of those brackets where they extend up from and lay upon the frame rails, and at the point where the peg extension is bolted to the bracket whenever you would be standing up on the footpegs, especially.

Dwight, that looks better than what I was thinking about doing. Now who's gonna step up and start fabbing these Dwight brackets (for a reasonable price) and where does the line begin?

Of course, properly engineered would be perfect! You could say you engineered in a 20:1 safety factor or so.

Attn Dave[whoopsy]....

Per your PM question, here are those pix I promised to re-post of the center pegs with the dims, and which for whatever reason aren't posting on this thread anymore.

And to answer your question about the extentions of the actual footpegs which attach to the brackets...well, I found those footpegs with those extentions as a used item at an old Harley shop locally. If you can't seem to find them, I'm sure you could manufacture them yourself also, as they're just pretty much a piece of about 1 sq.in of steel with holes drilled into each end of them and them tapped to allow a bolt to hold one end of them to these brackets, and the other for the pegs themselves to be screwed into them.

ahh, the elusive center peg. see, Im picky... I wanna move the controls and all. it looks like it would be easy enough, especially since i took off the sprocket cover, to just mount the entire assemblies to those flat pieces of steel just under the swingarm mounts.. maybe Ill have to try it along with everything else this winter...

Hey Dwight (sorry to raise the dead thread on your birthday) ...

- are you certain the right side bracket is a mirror of the left? Cos I'm finding the right side is hitting the sprocket cover. I think I'm gonna have to lengthen the horizontal to carry the peg further forward than the sprocket cover. Trouble is then it won't be in line with the left side. Unless the lower side of the sprocket cover on my '09 is different than yours?

Cheers, Richard

Never mind - I think I've got it sorted. I have lowered the peg position vertically about an inch and got the right side working - the left side is easy.

Cheers, Richard

Sorry Richard, I just spotted your question right now, however it sounds as if you've found the cure on your own here. If you have any more questions, I'll be sure to keep my eye on this thread from now on.

(...btw, when ya get done, how about postin' some pics of your job?)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
