I have an 08 America and would like to get new handlebars with some added rise and pullback. Does anyone know the measurements on the stock america bars, or can someone tell me how to measure mine?

Thanks.

any bar 1 inch to 1 1/4 inch will work on our bikes. I really like the stock risers we have as well. As long as the bar doesnt smack the tank, I would keep em!

I installed Rocket 3 bars on my 04 Speedmaster last night. REALLY changed the riding position. The previous owner had changed the stock bars to those from a Bonneville. I then added 1-1/4" riser spacers like those from Jims Spacers. Still wanted more height and pullback. The Rocket bars feel really good. I don't feel hunched and slumped over now.

Thanks, I just changed my handlebar set up to the America. The R3 looks like it has a higher rise than the America, it looks great and comfortable too. What kind of cable are you running on that?

According to the Flanders site the bars are 3"taller, 1" wider and pull back 3" more than the America bars. I don't know what cables are on my SM since the bars had been previously changed to Bonneville bars. I'm guessing the stock SM cables.

There are some issues I still have to deal with. I moved the brake line to the right side caliper. It is functional but not ideal. It is not pulled tight and has some slack, but, not enough to tuck it to the forks so it would look better. Will replace it in the future.

The clutch cable had to be moved from around the left header pipe to above it. I secured it to the oil cooler line with 2 zip ties. I don't like this either so will replace it in the future also.

The throttle cables I moved to the right side and between the tank and frame instead of going thru the forks. Plenty of length there.

The electrical wiring now comes behind the forks instead of thru and in front of. Seems to have plenty of length there also.

The bar end caps have a bigger screw on the R3 so I have to get different screws.

Took about 2 hours to change including all of the figuring out how to stuff. Rode 22 miles to work today and really like it. Have to go to one of our other stores this afternoon so will have an 84 mile round trip on the freeway. Oh, and my $25.00 mini windshield now fits much better and works better too!

Can you post the pics for me?

Hi I'm looking to replace my stock Speedmaster bars with some after market Harley Glide bars on short 1" risers in place of the standard 4". Does anybody know if the stock cables are suitable or is there a source of longer cables from any one in the US ?

Not sure how tall glide bars are but I have the stock America bars on 4 1/2" HD risers and they also have a 1 1/2" pull back. I used America break line and cables, also rerouted the throttle cables to the other side of the frame. The America cables and lines worked fine for me.

They look close to the HD Heritage bars on my America. $15 on Ebay. A little more rise, less pull back.
